Sure do. I've just been to chicken to run past the empty mark very far.Variant TDI said:If you've got a ventectomy, this should be no problem.
__. Larry, his '98 is an A3 model body. Some parts are similar to our A4's ('98 NB to about '06, '99.5 Jetta to about '05.5, and '99.5 Golf to late '06 or so) but others are different.LarryLymb said:Johnny, How much fuel did you put it? It might give someone a better idea of how far they can go. Did you vent?
__. Interesting, Larry. I recently put in 17.12 gallons (after about 980 miles) and I was sweating like a pig but it was still running when I eased into the station. Also, an '03 wagon.LarryLymb said:I have put 17.38 gallons, after RUNNING OUT, in my 2003 Jetta Wagon.
__. Var, I did about 5 or 6 fills within a mile of the light coming on. IIRC, all of them were 14.9 but one and that one was 15.0. I haven't had my wagon long enough to put too many fills in but I've had 2-3 at 15.3 and one or two at 15.4, all without the light being on -- I'm pretty careful about fuel (not foam) in the ventectomied neck. I think that I'd driven about 65 miles after the "bing" when I recently put 17.1 in my '03 wagon.Variant TDI said:In my 145 fills, probably 15 of them have been within 5 miles of the light coming on. And I can be added to the list of folks who can confirm you should be able to put 15.1 gallons into the tank in that situation.
And that's filling until you see fuel (not foam) in the neck.
I recently put 17.128 gallons in my 05 Golf. Funny thing is the gauge was still not at the bottom point at which I have run out on before.mrGutWrench said:__. Interesting, Larry. __. Most people who have run A4 Jetta sedans and Golfs out have said that it took within a tenth or so of 17 gallons even (vented or ventectomied, liquid fuel to the brim). That adds to my suspicions that there's some difference between Jetta sedans and wagons (even though the Jetta sedan seems to be very similar to the Golf).

I'm really happy I finally broke the 50 MPG and 800 miles tank barrier and my car is a PD auto tranny!
I was wondering if anybody else with an PD or ALH auto tranny has completed 800 miles on a tank and or gone 50+ MPG on a tank.
Take care,
Good going. I passed you while you were using your emergency flashers in the slow lane on the way back from VA.....n1das said:2002 Golf TDI:

I got 800 on my second tank. First time. I could have gotten 800 on the other two tanks, but I filled up out of convenience.Stevestyle67 said:I just got back from a road trip... It took 4 fill-ups (one right before I got home) and here are the 3 tanks of fuel burned. I drove 10 mph over the speed limit everywhere and ran the A/C about 60-70% of the time.
