I have 700+ miles and still just over 3/4 of a tank of purchased fuel.

I love free veggie oil. :)

815 miles on 15.82 gallons, filled up this morning (fully vented). Fuel light went on yesterday before I got home.

There a lot of things that add up to the 800mi thing. 2003 Golf ALH 5m, mostly highway miles at 68-75, mostly cruise control, fewer red-lines on this tank of fuel, tires at 42psi all around, recent oil change. These cars are really fantastic highway machines!

I went 698 miles in my 1999 Jetta A3 on 15.9 us gallons of diesel ... is that good?
43 mpg? Not especially. But it's certainly not 800+ miles. Tune her up, slow down, and shoot for 800+!

Perhaps everyone who is not achieving this milestone (purpose of the thread) can find alternate threads to post in... there is a 700+ tank thread, too.

just take a trip to Reno, NV couple weeks ago. Set the cruise on 65mph all the way home to Angola, IN. First tank was 792 miles on 14.29 gallons. The second tank was 806 miles on 14.37 gallons. The last tank I was able to drive on for a week to work and still averaged over 51mpg. This was awesome. Can't wait the change 5th gear so I can do 70mph. Btw I had 12 16lb bowling balls in the trunk too.

My post from April 20th, I was able to get my first 800+ mile tank commuting to work and back, mostly by just slowing down to ~65 mph.

Driver: MyWifesTDI (Mike)
Miles: 807
Gallons: 16.222
Model Year: 2002
Model: Jetta Wagen
Tranny: 5M
Fuel Type: ULSD+2cycle

Finally got my first 800 tank. 817 miles on 15.8 gallons. The first half of the tank was spent with a lot of traffic in Seattle/Tacoma and several 100mph + blasts while cruising the rest of the time at 80. Some stop and go driving in and around Portland. The second half I just did the speed limit (65-70) because I felt I could pull a 800 and it worked! In fact, if I would have slowed down a little bit the first portion of the tank, I'm certain a 900 miler is do-able. This is impressive from a 200whp (guessing) car!

I'm at 635 miles and 1/4 tank remaining. I'm thinking this might be my second 800 mile tank, which isn't bad considering it's chipped and has sprint 520 nozzles.
Nice :D It just keeps surprising me that mods don't matter on these cars. I have a PD150 with race nozzles, stage 2 cam, hybrid turbo, large FMIC and open exhaust, R32 MAF, aggressive ECU tuning, and sincerely think I can pull a 900 mile tank :) Just amazing!

I always read these posts and figured there's no way I can do that!

Well on a recent trip to Vancouver I did it. 1288km, exactly 800 miles. Average speed was 130 km/h. Filled up at a Chevron in Vancouver and drove all the way home to Edmonton without filling up.

On the same trip from Edmonton to Kamloops I drove 865 km (538 miles) on 9.2 gallons, so 58 mpg. I was very happy with that. Kept speed at 110 km/h the entire way.

Currently installed mods are VNT-17/22, Tuning box, Kinetics .205 nozzles and a 2.5" turbo back side exit exhaust.

I drove from Yuma, AZ to Los Alamos, NM; then to Clines Corners NM. 838 miles 15.56 gallons. Then next day (and a half day after) Clines Corners to Huntsville TX: 821 miles, 15.651 gallons consumed.

The 838 mile tank was spent at 65 mph, some senic driving and a little bit of stop and go. However, about 95% was on the highway @ 65mph

The 821 mile tank was driven at 70 mph, with 95% highway.

The 838 mi tank my rpm was around 2100

Last tank 804 miles and it beeped at me on the way to the gas station,
14.1 gallons to the top!

This tank about 740 with the AC on the whole time. Gotta love it.
Mostly highway trips 30-60 miles at around 60mph.

Oh, man! you could have streched that 804 way farther! After the light goes on you have about 2 Gallons left; at a conservitive 35 mpg, thats 70 miles after the light (in city driving).

I learned the hard way... at 72 miles after the light I ran out of fuel on my way to a very important meeting. I was almost late!

Since I was caught for speeding, my mileage has been going up. I just parked my car in the driveway at 1300.5 km, which is just over 800 miles (and the fuel gage has been on empty for about 50km). Now, can I make it to the next Shell offering v-power? :D

I have had three 800+ mile tanks this year. The first was 803 miles earlier this year. The second was 817 miles two weeks ago. Last week was my record at 835 and tomorrow when I fill up, I expect to break that one with a 850 mile tank.

Well, by the luck of where I filled up, I was shy of 7 miles from having an 850 mile tank. I managed 843 miles and achieved 50.56 on this last tank. I could have easily rode down the road a few miles to get to 850, but why waste the fuel.

810 miles. That was back in 1986 in a Golf Diesel.

Hey, you put any time frame on it. :)

My personal best, as some may or may not remember. Drove from D.C. to Boston and back. Id say 90% of the driving was at 55mph, slow lane, ac off, windows up, tires at 42psi, etc. etc. no aero mods.

10% STUCK in bumper to bumper nightmare freaking out because i could FEEEL my mileage dropping.

still went 931 miles before the light came on. probably could have made it home, or at least to the 1000 mile club. but didnt wanna risk it. stopped on the last rest stop on the jersey turnpike and refilled. if memory serves it comes out to 62mpg, would have been 65 or so if i had missed the $*#&@(^ traffic.
