733 Mile Tank

I have to admit many of these miles were at 60-65 mph but it is a new record for me. 733.2 miles on 24.58 gallons. Could have driven to Marco Island FL on one refill from Michigan

I had a nice road trip last week, I wasn't keeping track of miles per tank as much as shown MPG, but I recently drove from Atlanta to Minneapolis with cruise control typically set in the 70-75mph range, and had a calculated fuel economy of 30.2mpg for 1061 miles.
My return trip with cruise control mostly set at 80mph, and 27.2mpg for 951 miles

That is amazing at them speeds. I find my mileage computer is 5% optimistic. I have to hit 31.6 mpg to be actually 30 mpg.

I don't doubt the numbers are a bit optimistic, but like you implied, considering I'm pushing nearly 5000# at that speed, I'm pleased. I was careful not to flog it too much, only rolled coal once or twice. <grin>

I've also noticed that my indicated speed is consistently under-reported by 1mph, according to GPS (only monitored at highway speeds). FWIW, I'm running relatively new 275/45-R20 Falken Ziex ST/Z05.

If you're rolling coal, you're deleted... which you didn't indicate... so it's not that hard to see an increase in FE at cruise when deleted...
I'd also like to raise the BS flag on the speedo reading "slow".

You're correct in your assumption on the first part.

Why a BS flag? Should I state it as GPS is consistently over-reporting +1mph at highway speeds?
Over approximately 2400 miles there was a steady1mph differential observed between the car's digital and analog speed readouts and what was shown by 2 separate GPS apps, plus a 3rd party in a BMW that was also tracking the 1mph via their onboard indicator and GPS apps.

Because if you've been around the scene for more than 10min, you should already know that VAG vehicles always read up to 10% faster than actual GPS speed.... and when I say GPS, I'm talking actual dedicated instruments not some BS phone app or whatever you're using.

I disagree. My 2013 speedometer is dead on by whatever means you use. It's odometer is only off about 0.5% also.

How did you confirm that it's dead on? Using what instrument?

Have a read... there are tons of articles on the subject in the event that this is the "first" you're hearing about what I'm saying

EVERY VW/Audi I’ve owned (‘80 rabbit diesel, ’86 Golf diesel, ‘81 Scirocco, ‘80 rabbit, ‘78 Quantum, ‘80 pickup, ‘84 pickup, ‘83 cabriolet, ‘97 Passat tdi, ‘06 Jetta tdi, ‘12 Audi A3 tdi, ‘15 Golf, ‘14 Touareg tdi, ‘00 golf tdi, ‘14 Touareg tdi) has indicated mph as 4-5% higher than actual.

How did you confirm that it's dead on? Using what instrument?

My hand held Garmin GPS and 5 miles in 5 minutes at 60 mph. My Glympse app on my phone also shows it dead on.
