shouldn't a wagon vented get like 18gals into the tank? even at the fuel light you should have used 16gals, and at 703miles that would make 43mpg... just wondering how you were getting 53mpg in your calculations?? but congrats on making the 700 mile club either way.sundagger7 said:venting to max, about 53 MPG. Light came on at 702 miles. This is an 03 Jetta Wagon

check the July Monthly Milage Competition thread, or any of the other milage threads. they all have fill-up listings with 16, 17 and 18gals at a time for wagons. those guys are all venting, but many of them have made the 800, 900 and even 1000 mile club. good luck with it.sundagger7 said:If it really holds 18 gal I should have no problem making the 800 club!
Since I got the new engine (old story) my '06 doesn't seem to want to get much over 41 or 42. I don't drive like a maniac and most of my commute is freeway driving.DavidG said:I did it again. It's not very hard to do it every tank now. 754 mile 14.422 gallons 52.28 MPG
You should be able to do it if I can.bogeyboy99 said:Since I got the new engine (old story) my '06 doesn't seem to want to get much over 41 or 42. I don't drive like a maniac and most of my commute is freeway driving.
Granted, the engine only has about 4800 miles on it but my previous engine was getting a pretty consistent 45 mpg in city/highway driving before the dealership put a gun to its head.
I'll keep trying....
