I'm going to get a jump on this GTG this year so more people have time to plan. This will be our 6th annual Detroit Auto Show (North American International Auto Show) get together. Last year we ended up with 30+ people and I'd like to be in the 40s this year! The more the merrier.

WHEN:
This year's GTG date: Saturday, January 19th, 2013 (first public day of the show). Due to the large number of out-of-towners, the GTG will likely spread to the day before and the day after the show - at least for dinner on Friday night and breakfast at the Bomber on Sunday morning.

http://naias.com/ for more information on the auto show.

Included in the auto show activities will be Go Karting at www.kart2kart.com in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

LODGING:
I propose that we shack up at the Ypsilanti Marriott again. It's a 40 minute drive from the COBO Center, but it's a great place to stay and Ypsi is an awesome town with awesome food (and not far from Ann Arbor).

RESERVATION LINK: CLICK ME!

Our group rate is $119/night + tax for a king hotel room. Rates are guaranteed through January 4th. Unfortunately, only KING rooms are available due to a hockey tournament renting all of the doubles.

If we get enough interest, I will pre-purchase show tickets at the group rate and look into the possibility of getting a group rate at the hotel.

SO... sign up early and please indicate whether or not you would like to stay at the Marriott and if so, for how many nights.

I put you on the list. I'll add Corey and your son once they confirm.

Detroit in January is awesome (unless you hate snow). :D

Snow is good, because then it fills in and covers some of the biblical awful roads they have. Good gravy, this summer was an eye-opener!

The Sprocket's are in for sure but will be staying at our house which is ten minutes north of downtown Detroit.

Which is actually 15 minutes for most people, but natives drive much faster. :D You know I actually tagged 90 MPH on the way to K2K? You know what is even crazier? I got passed.

What's scary is how bad the natives cars are, and they're doing that fast.

FFS, I was riding with gutz (mistake #1) in near blizzard conditions (mistake #2) in his rustetta (mistake #3), and he was doing 100 mph.

Somehow, I lived.

On the way to Kart 2 Kart at Fest this year we were behind a Durango that had been hit in the left rear wheel. The alignment was so messed up that he was crabbing sideways down the road (at 80+ mph, of course!). Really scary sh!t.

This is why I love driving in Michigan. Going up 23 to the Fest we were doing 90 and had to stay in the right lane.

Count Me In! The "wife" will be attending most likely as well. We'll probably stay two nights with deegingerkid for accommodations. Looks like it's going to be fun!

Lol, same boat here, brother.

We might be considered 'day walkers' :D

We'll see about accommodations. I can stay in St. Clair Shores with my old man...
