Alright so here is my initial review on quite a few different parts I had installed on my car while it was in the shop for a new 6 speed DRW transmission from BleachedBora.

DRW Transmission. I'm in love with this transmission:D On my way home other than not having cruise control. I was able to do 75 mph at 2150-2200 rpm give or take 50 rpm. At 80 it was right around 2250-2300 maybe. I'm not sure if I would recommend doing this upgrade to a non modded TDI, due to the fact that the extra power is helpful to keep the car in 6th gear on grades and if traffic were to slow down. Just my opinion.

DC Stage 3 Clutch. A little loud right now, but I've only got 330 miles on the clutch and trans right now. The engagement is very nice. Requires a little bit of throttle to get it going off the start. So far seems to be holding great and no complaints there. I should be able to give a better review once it's full broken in and I can put it to the test. So I'll update a week or so after some more miles get put on.

Dieselgeek Sigma 6 Short Shifter. What a piece and I mean that in a good way. It provided crisp shifts and noticeably shorter throws and side to side movement. I couldn't imagine using the stock unit. It initially was a little notchy, but I think some of this has to do with everything being new.......trans, LSD, Short Shifter, motor mounts, dogbone, etc.

034 Motor Mounts and Dogbone. Again with everything so new it's hard to give a completely accurate review of them, but they do make the car vibrate more and especially while the new clutch is being broken in. It has gotten better in the 330 miles I have driven though. I'm sure once they are completely "broke" in they won't be so bad. As far as I can tell right now things are fairly rigid up front and very little movement as far as trans and motor.

LSD review will come once the clutch is full broken in, since I can't horse on it just yet.

PD 150 Intake Manifold and PD 150 TIP, Airbox, MAF, and R32 DSG Snorkel. I'll tie this review with the review of the Forge PD 130 FMIC kit. The first thing I noticed is the increase noise going on under the hood at slower speeds, but once up to highway speeds you hardly notice. There seems to be a nice increase in power for 2000 rpm and up and it pulls pretty good until 4K and probably more. I'm taking it somewhat easy due to clutch break in, so I should really be able to see what it can do in a couple of days. I ordered a Forge FMIC PD 130 and so far I'm very impressed with it. EGT's seem to be lower than the factory SMIC and when EGT's do start to climb it doesn't take long for them to reach normal operating temps. This might be a little skewed, since it is near the end of November in Wisconsin and it's only 40 degrees F outside, but from what I can recall, the Forge definitely has lower EGT's across the board. While Cruising at 73-75 I was seeing EGT's of right around 630 degrees F and normally it would be 750+
Since I didn't do the install myself I ask the shop owner what he thought of the kit and he was quite impressed. He liked the Custom Pancake pipe. The Same side Entry and Exit was the only solution for my car, since I'm running a TDI Heater and a DG By-Pass kit, so there would be no room for piping on the drivers side. Just an FYI it's not a completely bolt on kit for us PD100 NA guys. There were a few custom pieces that needed to be fitted to make things work.

Koni Coilovers and TT Bushings. These two things really help tighten the car up and make it feel really solid. The car has very little body roll now and corners like it's on rails. Yes the ride is a little bit stiffer, but that is to be expected for a performance shock. Some Comfort in trade for a big increase in performance......I'll take it.:D

GLI/20th/337 Big Brake kit. I decided to upgrade the brakes while the front and rear were apart for the coilovers. There seems a to be a nice increase in stopping power. Nothing huge, but still noticeable. Then again I'm hoping they will get better with time, since they don't have that many good stops on them to get them to bed in.

Last, but not least a SHOUT out to all the people that made this build possible.

Aaron at BleachedBora. Other than a few minor issues that had to get ironed out with the 6 speed, he was very helpful and put a rush on the parts that were needed for the install. Thanks again Aaron.

Jim @ Dieselgeek for the Short Shifter and the Timing belt kit.

Peter @ TDIParts for the 034 Motor Mounts and Dogbone and the PD 150 intake adapter "Race Pipe"

ryanp for the fast shipping on the PD 150 components.

The Shop that put it all together Mobile One, Inc. http://www.mobileoneinc.com/
A Big Thanks to them for putting up with getting parts in whenever they showed up and not necessarily the correct timing either. Great Communication with Jason the shop owner and took the time to let me know what was going on during the build and work out any issues that sprung up during the initial test drive.

I had Mobile One do my Timing Belt, since I wanted a little piece of mind. They did an excellent job on the Timing Belt job and they replaced everything that should be done on a Good TB job. Water pump, all tensioners, pulleys, belts, etc. So if there is any TDIer's looking for a Timing Belt replacement in the Chicago area don't hesitate to give them a call. IMO add them to the Trusted Mechanics for IL.

Damn you spent some money. Six speed with lsd is great you will love how you power threw corners and keep traction. Ditch rc3 and go for rc5 .

Nice upgrades!

For the 034 Motor mount and dog bone, which one did you purchase? The 50 or 80 durometer? I'm looking at getting them as well and was wondering your thoughts!

Yeah I spend a couple of bucks:D

Yeah I haven't been able to put the LSD to the test, since the clutch still needs to be broken in, but once it is trust me I'll be putting it through its paces.

Jeff told me that on the PD's he doesn't like to go above RC3+. He can do RC4, but for reliability he doesn't like to put it on to many cars and since this is my daily driver I don't need to blow up my motor. I waited 6 weeks for this build and I was luck to have another vehicle to drive around. No so sure if my dad would be willing to do that again:(

But I will be going to see Jeff early next week and get retuned for 26 psi and the PD 150 MAF.

Thanks!
I went with the Street Density Motormounts and then got the Track Density Dogbone to really lock the tranny in place. So far there is quite a bit more vibration at idle, but you have to remember the clutch is still being broken in, along with the motormounts. In the 330 miles that I have driven it has less of a vibration then when I first picked it up, so I'm sure it will only get better with time. I decided to go with the Track density Dogbone after reading through this thread on the VWVortex. I'm post a link to page 7, but it wouldn't hurt to read through whole thing.

Yeah I'm doing what I can.:D I'm actually parting out my race quad to pay for most of the parts I put on here, since I'm getting out of racing Quads and getting more into Auto X my car. I use my car on a daily basis, where the quad sat for 3 months before I decided to part it out.

Pic of what my Race quad looks like.

It was my pride and joy for 2.5 years.

And now for the reason why this whole build started. I guess you could say it was a good excuse/ time to upgrade.:D

My 5 speed was not that bad. I busted 5th gear and messed up the shaft. I saw it as a good reason to upgrade also. You will love the car even more now.

You need to ditch those tiny BEW injectors and toss some PD150 units with R783 tips on them with a new RC5... Glad you like the 6 spd and DG kit, so did I. Like Krout said, wait until the clutch is good to go and hammer out of some corners with it. Pulls with a vengence!

I'll talk to Jeff when I go see him early next week and see what he has to say. When I talked to him last he told me he wasn't to keen on tuning past RC3+, due to reliability issues. I really don't want to put a new motor in my car after I just had all these parts installed. I really doubt a motor upgrade is in my near future.:D

I've thought about going with atleast PD150 injectors, so I guess there is still room for improvement, which is a good thing otherwise I would get bored if I didn't have another level of mods to shoot for.;)

I'm sure once I get everything broke in properly I'll start putting it through is paces. I don't want to jump the gun and have to replace a clutch because I got on it to early and run the possibility of glazing the clutch disk:(

I'm just hoping the weather says somewhat nice here in Wisconsin, so I can actually find out how my car handles and what if feels like with the new found power I have. This thing pulls pretty good in 4th right now and I've been taking it easy. I'm really itching to see what it can do once I can fully open it up.

Your car looks beautiful. Not bad in winter mode either! Question about the Forge FMIC- how does the intercooler core mount up. Is it under the crash bar, behind the crash bar, etc... And do you know how thick the core is?

Thanks for the compliment.

These two links should answer all your questions and then some.
They have install instructions on the Forge Link

Yeah, that pretty much answered my questions except the thickness of the unit. Forge supplies a modified crash bar which it's bolted behind and there is some trimming involved.

Yeah I posed this question to Forge about the core and never got a straight answer back.

My email and response.
Hi Eric
I am so very sorry for this delayed reply ..I have e mail server issues and your email has just got me along with 500 others

The Forge PD 130 FMIC will not fit the PD 100 without modification , I would not be able to make any guarantees over its fit , or what you need to do to make it fit
If you were to order we would not be able to warranty it
Please let me know
Regards
Peter

Subject: FMIC for MKIV PD130[/font]

Hi,

I was wondering if this kit http://http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=0013&product=FMINTMK4PD would work on my US MKIV Jetta TDI with the PD100? Do you have any other info about the intercooler itself? Such as pressure drop, flow rate, etc.

After the pancake pipe and 135 degree silicon elbow does the factory IC piping get used, because in the PDF it appears as though you retain your stock piping? Would that be an issue on the US PD100?

Would you be willing to ship this kit to me in the US? I'm pretty confident that it would work on my PD100 and it looks like a great kit and there really is anything that I've seen in the US that looks to be as high a quality kit as the one you offer.

Thanks,

Eric

There that's better.

Well I figured I would update this thread.
While on my way to PA to visit Jeff@Rocketchip I stopped by Whitbread Performance innovations for what was supposed to be a Downpipe back 3" exhaust with a Aero Turbine Muffler. Well needless to say it turned into a Turbo Back exhaust system, becasue the previous DP that I had in there was leaking in the Flex pipe section and was obviously broken:confused: So that had to go and of course taking the old DP off couldn't go smooth and during removal of the nuts on the studs of the turbo one snapped off outside the exhaust housing and one of course had to break off inside the exhaust housing insert  This warrented the removal of the turbo to drill out the remaining portion of the stud and having to put a helicoil in along with 3 brand new studs. Everything except for the new studs and helicoil was done from midnight till 4am:eek: I got about 6 hours of sleep while the owner went into town an hour earlier and pick up the necessary supplies for finishing the job. So a flange finalized along with the rest of the Turbo back exhaust. So I helped where I could and managed to finish up the exhaust around 9 pm. Then it was off the see Jeff. But not without incident. There was a semi that had jack knifed in the middle of the highway that I was going on and of course they needed to bring in a heavy duty wrecker and Crane to get the Semi back on the road. I got sick of waiting, so I scoped out the median, which wasn't sloped too bad and didn't have a huge drop off in the middle, so I decided I would go through the ditch and back the other way, so I could get moving again. I managed to find a route around and get moving again. Since I lost a half hour I was trying to make up time and of course I got the meet some of the local law enforcement in Ohio

In which case I had to pay the ticket on the spot.

I continued on my way this time slowing down a little bit till I got into PA, which I picked up my speed again and didn't see to many cops.
I got to Jeff's place @ 6am and I just couldn't go to sleep, so I stayed up till around 8:30 and passed out.

There are still a few issues that Jeff is working on to get my tune right, since there are still some limp mode issues with the cruise for 6th.

I can update on the ride and clutch though.

The Coilovers seem to have settled in quite nicely and I really like the way the car rides and handles. It's only noticeably stiffer when you hit a larger dip or bump in the road. Otherwise I rides pretty close to stock on fairly smooth pavement. It has far less body roll though with the coilovers.

For the DC Stage 3 clutch is finally broken in and has what I would consider the be the same pedal pressure as a stock clutch setup. It is a little more grabby than a stock clutch though and the engagement point feels good. It hasn't slipped once while I've had it even during break in.

The DG shifter seems to be getting smoother over time. It was quite notchy, but it's getting better. Still doesn't fall into gear, but a very positive feel, but then again when there are no rubber bushings in play it really tightens things up, which I like.:D

I still haven't really been able to put the LSD to the test, because it was raining off and on during the trip and I really didn't feel like sliding off the road.

As for the motor mounts they seem to be settled in after 2500 miles, but there is still some vibration upon start up and especially during the cold. Once under way though you would hardly notice they are in there.

For the latest addition of Matt Whitbreads Turbo back exhaust, so far I'm rather impressed with it and really like the way it sounds with the Aero Turbrine Muffler. When coasting you get some drone from exhaust, because of the vanes straightening out. I can live with that though.

Once the tune is sorted out I'll be on happy camper, because when it was running right man was it a blast to drive and pulled hard. Depending on how things go I may be putting PD150 injectors in over the summer to get me close to the 200hp mark.:D

Holy $hit man! Some bad luck !

You need to buy one of these: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=passport+9500ix&oe=utf-8&cid=4277988803600426202&sa=title#p to put an end to your law enforcement problem.

If you are gonna have that much HP in your car... you better join the club and spend a few extra $ on this GPS/ Radar/ laser detector and keep the Leo's off your back. Best $500 you'll ever send. Mine has saved me a ton of tickets, $ and my license.

Glad to hear that other than your mishaps, your car is coming together nicely. jeff will have your tune sorted out pronto.

Tnx for posting the reviews on the mods

The sad part is that I do have that exact radar detector:( He was cresting a hill and I tried hitting the brakes hard to slow down, but he already had me clocked before I slowed down. It's still a great detector, but when you are the only one on the road it makes it hard for it to pick up the radar bouncing off other cars in front of me. It did help me out on the way back.

The "grabby" goes away in a few thousand more miles. I love that clutch, and expected it to be unpleasant.
I lust over your tranny :p

He must have hit you with instant on when he saw you coming so you had no time to react. I know they are big on using the IO mode in the North East and also the mounties in Canada. Down here is CA, they do not use it so much, CHP mostly leave their on all the time and the radar detector picks them up miles away.

Just bad luck I guess.

Yeah it sucks but what are you going to do. Like Jeff said when I showed up it's better to have a cop pop out of the bush than a deer pop out in front of you and you end up hitting it and having to shell $500 for the deductible. So as long as it doesn't show up on my driving record I'm happy. Mostly for insurance reasons.

So as long as it doesn't show up on my driving record I'm happy. Mostly for insurance reasons.
It doesn't make sense, but you are WAY more likely to get pulled over for speeding when you are all alone and only putting yourself at risk.

One of my pet peeves are the guys that ride your bumper, you pull over and they don't pass cause they are just looking for someone to draft behind, thinking they won't get pulled over if they are behind someone else.

Just once I would like to see one of these BOZO's get pulled over for tailgating. In over a Million miles of driving I have never once seen anyone pulled over for tailgating, but they will pull you over for 70 in a 55 on a wide open road in the middle of the afternoon on an empty road.

Yeah I really don't understand it either. It was midnight and there was an accident blocking the traffic the way I was going for 30 minutes before I decided to drive through the median and find another route, so it's not like there were that many cars going the way I was. For the most part it was me and mostly truckers on the road that stay in the right lane, so who was I going to hurt?

What I would really like to see more tickets given out for is people driving in the left "fast" lane and doing 5 over the speed limit or less and then not want to move over ever. That's more dangerous IMO than me speeding.

That is just too funny. You want people who are technically "speeding" to get tickets because they are in the way of you speeding faster? ROFLMAO!

Try to look at it a different way, I can't tell you how many times I got stuck behind someone like that only to turn a corner and find a hidden patrol car. If it helps, just think of it as devine intervention.

As a general rule, I try not go get toooooo upset about obeying the law. And I certainly try even harder not to get upset about people that are breaking the law, but not as much as me
