6.4 powerstroke vnt on a 2.0 8v pd

I mite be able to get my hands on a the turbo off a 6.4 powerstroke i cant seem to find much info on specs but its a borg warner bv70 i confirmed it has a 74mm comp exducer im gonna assume the inducer is 50-54 mm how would this be on daily ? Little bit smaller than a s356v which spools half decent i think it mite be good turbo ? Any one know more about these

Housings are a bit of a joke but could be easily cut a welded

You mean turbos? The 6.4 PowerStroke has a compound turbo setup.

Yes but im talking just the one they are detachable

Or maby leave them compounded lol :)

Cant be worse than the hx35 that p0wer has as a single.You may have some fun converting the vgt mech to vacuum.

I will just throw my hella acuator on it ... but it might not have enough force

Yup i got one of them to you sure its not a gt3782va frim the 6.0 powerstroke we are putting that on my buddys 1.9 pd drag car

i got the turbo apart 52/74.2 comp 62/69.5 turbine so same turbine as s356v so techincally its a s352v should that spool better ?

Acuator is CAN need ti figure out the baud rate and adress does anyone know if the john deere acuator is pwm because i have a brand one of them laying around

I cut all the garbage off with the band saw i cut the inlet as close to the turbo as possible to reduce volume and i was able to drill 4 m10 threaded holes so im happy i can avoid welding

I have heard that the turbos on the 6.4 stroker, other than the HPFPs, were the weak link. It'll be interesting to see how your turbo holds up, assuming you get the VGT conversion to work with your car sucessfully. How much boost do you plan on running through it?

Really its the exact same turbo as the john deere s300v probably gonna run 50psi

Use this turbo as the LP stage with the original turbo as HP = Good. Inter-stage cooling highly recommended.

can anyone sugggest whether 1.375 (35mm) id primarys will be sufficient for a tubular manifold ?

They are even on the large side. IIRC I used 28mm id pipes when I made a tubular manifold for 1.9 years ago.

So that's a yes ? I just see darksides manifolds look alot bigger and it got me thinking.

Turbine housing all done 3" v band adapter and the inlet flange is permanentely fixated

I think you should use pipes that have roughly the same flow area as the exhaust ports. The less the internal volume, the better the spool.

Thats what i was thinking i did some calculations and my pipes have about 10 percent more surface area so i think i should be good do you think it will be to restrictive at high rpm ?

Not at all. We have had around 400hp with either stock manifold or a 1.6td manifold so you should be ok with that sized tubular.
