The only major issues with the 6 speeds are the pinion bearing, of which many were installed from the factory with too much preload, over time this will roast the pinion bearing.The DQS gearboxes are not the best ever made btw..
Don't get to focussed onto a gearbox code and it's ratios.
If you are making over 400 ft/lbs then the only option is the 6 speed, as the 012 will grenade with a bit of abuse over 350 ft/lbs.*
Keep in mind the cheap 6 speeds often have bad pinion bearings, you might get lucky and get a used one but it's been my experience that every sub $800 6 speed is in need of work.I debated over 5 speed vs 6 speed and found that a 6 speed purchased from the UK is around $325.
