30K on the clock. My OE Conti's are "wafer thin" on tread. Had it ailigned @ 25K for PM. I'm anal about tire pressure. 35psi, checked no less than weekly. Wear is even, Yes, they were rotated. No I'm not "Hot RODDING IT".

Anyone doing better?

Looking for new skins now! What are you running?

Have you replace your tires yet? Did your brand help the MPG or hurt it?

The treadwear rating for the OEM Conti should be 400, 30k mi. is decent mileage for the rating.

Are these Kumho tires Korean, Chinese or Japanese? I have been unable to find this info via Google. Tires from China have been getting some bad press lately regarding safety issues.

LOTS of stuff coming out of China right now is getting bad press!

I'm close to my 30K check up and I'm wondering if my skins are done. :(

My contis are thin and I just passed the 10K mark. Noticed how thin they were when I rotated my tires. Luckily, I'll have snows on from Oct. - April (moving to central NY), and I'll get fresh rubber in the early summer.

I currently have 28.5k miles on my Continental tires and still have around 10k worth of tread left.

I favor Nokian tires. I've not seen any change in FE, but my WR's are wearing much better than the 50K mi they are warranteed for. Your locale says N of Denver. The Nokian WR is an excellent year round tire that works well in all conditions.

I have 76,000 on my third set of Michelins. (Harmony)
Will probably get another 10 to 20k at least. The traction on very wet roads is getting noticably slicker.
I rotate and balance every 6000 + or - miles.
Always check pressure. 38-40 psi. Never realigned, no need.
I only got 50,000 - 60,000 out of the MXV4, two sets.
I am looking at the Michelin Rain tire for my next set, it is supposed to be better than the Harmony. Good luck.
Still getting 46-50 mpg.

I've read that most tires that come on new cars are lower quality than aftermarket tires, even compaired to the same tire. I am planning on replacing mine (it will be around 30k) this winter with a true winter performance tire. Then getting new wheels and tires in the summer. I've read it on here amoung other places that all season tires suck in all seasons;)

I had to put two new conti's on after a long trip that included some off-pavement driving. Apparently the previous owners (see sig) had gotten flats in two of the tires and either my off-road or high speed on-road endeavors caused the plugs to spring a leak.

I've got 24k on the original two and they've got plenty of tread left.

I'll go with another brand when the time comes, but I haven't had the myriad of issues that some of you report.

19500 and I just had to replace two of them because they had buldges in the sidewalls. definately not going to buy any of these noisy garbage tires for my car as replacements:mad:

New Beetle, Jetta, one totaled Passat....RIP.
Stock tires are like that on most all new vehicles. I replaced our Beetle's with Continental Extreme Contacts (twice......50,000+ miles out of them). I have always gotten over 50,000 miles out of Continental tires.
The Extreme Contacts are phenominal tires!

I've got about 35K on mine and there is still enough tread that I'm not going to look for new ones anytime soon.
You must be feeling the torque and burning rubber a lot.

I've got 43,000 on OEM Continentals and they are still in great shape. I keep them inflated between 38-40 lbs. and rotate them every 5,000 miles. This truly demonstrates "YMMV." I've gotten 50-60K out of Toyos and Bridgestones on the same commute with last car (Maxima).

Depending on when the Continentals eventually wear out, I'd consider buying another set. They've performed well for a relatively inexpensive tire IMO. :)

23K on mine, I have never had an issue with too much noise from them. They still have good tread on them too, I can see them going to about 45 or 50K miles, but we'll see. I did have one blow out at about 20K miles. Discount tire showed me where i apparently punctured the sidewall and ran it on the highway too low for a while. Was going about 80mph at the time, he showed me where the rim made a ring on the sidewall from being too low.

51,000 on my original Contis and no issues/problems, I like the tire. I run them at 40-43psi and I've never rotated them. I may replace them in the fall depending on how much tread is left, but they still look good.

I second the Nokian WRs. I have 20K on them on my Golf and they look brand new. I live in VT and they are good enough to get me around in the Winter. They are the only "all season" tire with a (50K) warranty I've come across that has the winter snow tire rating = mountain with the snowflake. I saw about a 1 mpg degrade between these (worse) and the stock Eagle LS POS's that came on my golf. For our Jetta we are using the Contis in the winter and Gislevead Nord Frost 3 studded snow tires from our prior Passat that we had before we learned of the WRs.

Yokohamas have some very good reviews too. I just put a set of AVID TRZ on my wife's minivan and she loves them over the stock Conti tires..which lasted about 38k. She has an 05 Uplander which has 17" rims on it.

just mine subjective opinion: wouldn't it better to write how many milimetters of protector are left on the tire? Because the phrase 'they look good' doesn't say much, actually it says nothing. My previous two Michelin's also look good, but they had a spoilage and are not suitable to operate.

BTW, IMHO it isn't worth to save money on tires; tires are very related to your safety.

I has some Kuhmos on my old Accord beater, they lasted forever, handled okay, rode nicely and were quiet. I think they were $36 a piece from Discount or Tire Rack, 14" though.

I'd buy them again.

Mine do look good: almost 4/32nds to the wear indicator and 6/32nds to the bottom of the thread groove. ;)

30K isn't very much. It makes me wonder if VW should have gone with larger stock tire sizes on the A5. I'm running my Bridgestones at 42F/38R and ride is fine, I think it may help wear, too.

Kumhos are GREAT tires, IMHO. I have ASXs on two cars right now, and MXs on a third. The ASX is a good rain tire, quiet, grippy in the dry, and I got about 45K out of a 16" set on my wagon. And I don't baby it. And they're inexepensive.
