I would like to thank everyone for putting this GTG together. All the help was Great getting the IQ set and doing some Log graphing!!! Now I have a baseline for the bigger mods. Was up at 6:30 this morning in the hotel lounge designing some new parts. The GTG was a good way to share ideas. Had a Great Time!!!

How does darkhorse go from 209 to 140 whp?!
I didn't even break into the 130's yesterday. The 209 was on a Dynojet but it was on an 80F+ day. I'm having MAF trouble now for some as yet to be determined reason. It mysteriously lost boost overnight a few weeks ago (only makes 5psi) Unplugging the MAF brought the boost back but with way more smoke & a loss in power.

Wow what the heck kind of dyno is that? Its annoying that dynos read so different cause you can't compare them usually.

Its a super-heart break dyno!! *thumbsdown*

From what I gather, Dynojet's tend to run higher than Mustang's. This was a Mustang MD 250 series. The thing is it is at the university & they don't have the $$ to have it re calibrated. The operator also told me it's used by a lot of students & some people had done some "stupid" things on it.

Gotcha. Not your fault.

Dynojets tend to run 10% higher than Dynodynamics. The DD tends to be the 'accurate' one.

I hope you can figure out the probs with the car asap!

Thanks to everyone that showed up. Made for a great day and the weather decided to cooperate. I think after seeing everyones car run some of the SAE guys are quite interested in getting a TDI in the future:cool:

Hopefully they are able get the dyno calibrated for next time.

Hey Guz15,
I think we should take a look at building you an exhaust. We can do a GTG to work out the details. I'm thinking of possibly building an extra one or two...

I haven't heard of any DD dynon in the area but 10% is the figure I've been told, seperate the Mustang & DJ.

Were checking sensors now. With all the snags we have had, sometimes I think I have gremlins living in the ECU. I loaded this tune Dec 19th & loved it right away. It ran strong & clean all winter. On April3rd it couldn't get out of it's own way when I leaned into it.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by the numbers I put down.
140 hp
270 lbs
I was thinking to be in the 160 HP range and closer to 300 lbs.
Either way it was still a good day. No major failures.
Thanks for putting this together.

For sure, let me know what you have going on and we can talk it over a cold one.

I think what I really need to do is get in contact with VWMikeL to dial back my fueling. It was a little too much for my liking. That 11mm pump really pours it on. :))

It sure did! I'm still looking for the mysterious cause of my MAF failure that seemed to occur suddenly on April 3rd.

I've posted on this before, but the "MAF test" is not really a MAF test at all, since the test gives false positive results in some cases, perhaps yours included. I've got a spare MAF in the closet as a result.

In my case, similar symptoms, and it was the actuator.

Good luck - Pat

I've gotten the same results with 3 MAF units plugged in. They all clip my boost at 5 psi. I'll get the full 24psi with it unplugged but it runs much smokier than before with apparently way less power output. Throttle response at the bottom end seems unchanged. For some reason, on my dyno runs (no MAF) The boost would rise to 24 fine but around 3500 rpm it fell off.

Exactly. It's not the MAF.

I found my mystery problem with the MAF. The MAF was fine, it just wasn't getting much air through it. The rubber TIP connector had backed off the compressor housing just enough to let dirty air in but appear in place from above. I feel relieved & really stupid at the same time.:eek::eek:

Thanks, Eric. Such a simple fix but I feel a bit foolish for not discovering it sooner. I'd almost forgotten how strong the car feels when it's all running right. Now I'll have to get it on a dyno again. btw, thanks one more time for putting the event together. It was good to see how well you are doing. I admire your spirit.

There was a LMM Duramax there - between the tires spinning up on the rollers and the transmission downshifting on them, I'm not sure they got a decent run in.

Definately would have been cool to see your truck run - Maybe next time.

Eric, did you have contact info so I could make arrangements to do some runs? Just got the car back today as well. I did some other work besides fixing where the deer ran into the side of the car.

I think my truck idles at 140hp.... ;-)

Ohh I wish this was a few weeks later then it was. ohh well.

Haha.......very funny :p. Your turbo probably moves just a tad bit more air than my little hairdrier.

Who can I contact to get my dyno plots? I didn't get a chance to leave email wih those guys.

Thanks,

car looks good and I'm not sure about being able to do any more runs since finals are coming up, but I can go ahead and ask and see what they have to say

I'll work on either forwarding your contact info or give you theirs. It is a friend of a friend kind of a deal.
