Can't wait to run the car. Rims were supposed to be done at the powder coater today. Have to wait till tomorrow. Going in Wednesday to mount and align. Car developed a roughness when slowing down and gets a bit better when fully stopped. Did a Liqui Moly purge, seemed to help but then came back. I still need to have the injectors checked since changing nozzles. Anyway, I hope to get some first hand advise from everyone. Should be fun. Do we need to bring anything?
Shouldn't be anything really to bring.

I'm having MAF problems. I just swapped the two I have but neither one works. It runs ok MAF less but not prime. If any one has a spare to bring that would be great.
I might have a spare one laying around..................

Ran into a slight snag...

Oil starvation from a previous incident caused the cam bearings to go bad. They got so hot the cam main bearing saddles IN THE HEAD melted down and the temper was taken out of my cam, causing it to weaken, and that plus the ensuing untrue rotation caused it to break--waiting on an ARL head from RyanP :D but it looks like I'm out for this year. Sucks I REALLY wanted to know what I was putting down...

That sucks that the cam took out the head with it. Hopefully ryan gets you back on the road.

Damn, that's a bum stick! Ryan's a great vendor. He's gotten parts to my door in less that 24 hours. 16 & a few minutes to be precise. What will you use for a new cam?

Whatever comes with the ARL head lol. I just got done dumping mucho money into this car before this happened, so I'm going with my cheapest option. Which, oddly enough, happens to be the one that is also an upgrade :D. Down the road though, Jeff will have mastered the "quirks" of the Colt St. II cam, and I have a brand new one sitting in a box waiting for the day the old cam wears out and Jeff can get more power out of the stage 2. ;)

There are quirks in the cam tuning?

Well to be fair the last time I talked to Jeff was about 2 months ago, but yes, that's the way he made it sound. I got the impression it was better to wait a couple months before I installed a Colt cam because, in tuning for others, he wasn't able to get as much power out of it as he had hoped--something like that. He may have it all sorted out by now.

Last I talked with him he was waiting on new billets from a European supplier. He had had some that didn't work out too well.

Well, not sure if I'm going to be making it because it's still in the body shop. Typical story with it will be done this day, then this day....... I hope that he's got stuff all done and just needs to go back together cuz then I'll just spend Friday night putting it back together.

I'm gonna be really disappoint if I can't make it, wanted to find out what improvement over last years dyno Jeff's tune made.

No room at the country inn.
Awesome! I checked on rooms too and got a room at the Mound view inn.

Wow we are staying at a cute B&B in Platteville and we reserved it right away. You can walk downtown from it.

I'm getting all my stuff together to hit the road tomorrow morning. Looks like we'll have a decent showing of people still.

Darkhorse - I've got a used MAF you can test drive if you want - I swapped a new one a couple years ago and didn't see any difference, so I think it's good yet.

Looks warm (mid 60's) but rain - hopefully it does not cause any troubles for us.

Drive safe everyone - see you in the morning.

Thanks! I have two MAF sensors but both clip my boost at 5 psi. The car runs ok without them but it's not optimal.

It will be about noon before I can be there. It's about a 3 hour drive for me.

Well no paint on the doors yet so no car, I blame it all on the deer that ran into the side of the car in the first place. So I won't be there - can you give me a contact for getting in touch with to set up a time to dyno the car?

Was a good day - Nobody broke, weather was nice, food was good, etc

I think everyone was humbled by the numbers (I know I was at 125 HP). The couple of us that were there last year were all ~10 HP lower this year with the same/similar setups.

I didn't see all the numbers, but there were a couple stock TDI's that were run that turned out ~stock power levels.

We're supposed to get the dyno data e-mailed to us later next week so then we can put some curves up.

Thanks to 3L3M3NT for coordinating this again for us - it's greatly appreciated!

I think Darkhorse was at ~140 HP and ~275 ft-lbs
I think JPDiesel was also at ~140 HP and ~300 ft-lbs

Those were the only other TDI's that I remember - THere was a 79 vette with a warmed over 350 that almost made 200HP
