To me that indicates that once you have the fix done, you can't say that it changed the performance too much and now you want your buyback money.

Not to stray from the intent of this thread, but I asked this question to multiple reps on the claim line and all of them said that modified cars wouldn't be an issue. They basically said that as long as the shell and motor was there, and that it ran under it's own power they would be accepted. They said the car needs to operable simply so they can move them around easier.
That's what I hope happens. But I won't be mad if I have to keep my car. I just want some protection from the HPFP if I do keep it around.

talked with a service rep at my local Medford, oregon VW dealer and asked if replacing the factory TDI HPFP with an alternate choice would affect VOA's willingness to make the mandated emissions upgrade? He said that he asked VOA's rep that is working with this dealer and was told that vehicles have to be in factory condition for the work to be done.
I asked about the failure rate as well. he told me that Lithia VW in medford oregon does about 3 fuel system replacements a month. I gasped when he told me this. I said that is a lot. He said not really. I said yeah if all are driving TDI's.
Why has VOA not made the necessary upgrade to the pump once and for all?

A deposit has been put down for my kits, so it's officially off the market. Best of luck to all of you who are looking for one. I sincerely hope you get a kit before the issue affects your car. Hopefully Andrew can make another run on them eventually. After I installed mine, my peace of mind greatly improved.

Is there any difference between the kits (PureFlow, ContainFlow, CP3) for different models of the CR motors? I'm specifically wondering about purchasing a used kit from a Jetta/Golf/Sportwagen to use in a Passat.

I would email Andrew and ask him. He answers quickly and seems to be a very good guy.

IIRC, buried in the previous 700+ posts, the kit is the same but there is a tighter fit in the Passat.

Hello Sir,
Sure, it's possible. There were a couple great members interested in a Contain/Pure Flow Passat kit, (lightflyer) but I never followed through.
There are a few differences in the plumbing and hose routing. The filter assembly also needs a couple millimetres of shim (rubber strips) to clamp your smaller filter housing.
I have a line on a good, nearly new used "Jetta" kit for sale if you are willing to experiment.
CP3 is easier.... This has been done with an extra Aluminum coolant adapter designed by Whitbread.
See this!!

HPFP failure

Hi, folks!
About 2 years ago I had a HPFP failure, without any protection to my fuel system. I changed the pump with another one taken from a post-accident car , I also changed the common rail, because of those pressure sensors failure, post incident. I did not changed any other part, just god cleaning. I have send pictures to Andrew and he confirmed a catastrophic failure. Since, my car runs very well. I believe that any filter on return line, between injectors and fuel filter + another one between HPFP and CR is better than nothing !!! I have one on return, thinking to instal another one between the pump and CR... I believe than the bigger particles are, worst is the damage! Even a 2-5 microns filter should be good!

Yay. Installed both kits. Took a bit over a halfday. I made no attempt to hurry and drank quite a bit of beer.

Unrelated I'm sure, but noticed occasionally my rear defrost blinks at me

I was going to scan the module, but my laptop lcd screen cracked in half and now the liquid bled everywhere. I guess the hinges get mighty tight when cold, and the plastic and lcd couldn't take it.

I'm looking to pick up one of these kits from someone who took / will take the buyback. Please send me a PM.

(EDIT: I've decided to go with the CP3. Thanks for the PMs, those who sent them.)

Pm or email Andrew. Hes got making them on hold until further notice.

I waited almost 8 months to get wind of a used kit.

Your best chance now is to find one from someone who's ditching their car and putting the kit back into the community. Honestly if I let my car go, I'll go through the effort of new hoses to pull it off and let someone else have it.

On that note, Thanks Kevin K!

My car is currently in the shop because of HPFP failure and I'm paying out of pocket because of it being a salvage title. Looking for a pure/contain flow kit to prevent it from happening again. Anyone have one they are taking off a buyback car or have sitting on a shelf somewhere?

Not until this summer, but I wish you the best!

edit: I can talk to my mechanic (I would take it off myself, but I rather have my trusted mechanic make sure itś all there and good to go)... my fuel pump is under warranty until 120k and the car is not going to see that... I can try to arrange something soon if Andrew cannot help.

It'll be a while before I have an answer of whether I'm handing in my car as well. If I do I promise to recirculate it back into the community.

The way it's made, an oring, some crush washers, few hose clamps, and a new spin on, and it's like a new kit.

The picture I posted in thread before/above. Correct me if I am wrong but the fuel from tank to #1 inlet/dirty fuel from there to # 1 outlet/clean to the secondary fuel pump which will supply the high pressure pump clean fuel. The fuel return which T's into the line into the high pressure or is low/lowered pressure really [on the right drivers side] of the rail and at the same time would normally return to the stock fuel filter, but instead return it back to # 2 inlet side/dirty side of the filter head. # 2 outlet/clean fuel returns back to the tank. Fuel gets filtered before entering the secondary feed pump and HP pump and injection system and again on it's way back to fuel tank.
IF It works, why not? I believe it will???
Now with the fuel filtered/clean before the secondary fuel pump which will protect it also, the fuel will be clean before it enters the HP Pump.
The 2 Micron Cat filter, some people also I understand call it a 1 Micron
Can't see it being anything worse then the stock system.
Who knows eh????
If VW hadn't screwed up on our TDI's I would try it.

I will have my two kits for sale shortly. I'm in the final stage of the buyback paperwork and finalization. Once I get my appointment, I will be pulling complete kits off the vehicle. You can see my kits on post# 573(page #39) of this thread. PM if interested.

In response to the PM's I've received. Once I remove the kits and get them in order, I'll reach out to those in order of inquiry and offer them for sale.

Also leaning towards keeping my TDI. Would love to buy a new kit from Andrew or a used one from a member opting for the buyback.

I moved his kit from my car to my cousins, and now it's time to remove it, as buyback is Tuesday, and I can't get the assurance pin out of the housing! It's deep!

I don't remember the kind of screw, any ideas how to get it out without making a dirty mess??

I get it all out I'm selling it back to the community, I was letting him run on it until cash in day, as it's all good used, just a new filter is needed, if even that...

Hello Jason,
Use a #10-24 by 1.5" long to remove the pin.
You can grab one at Lowes, or a similar screw from many of your house light fixtures!!!
Thank you,
Andrew

Thanks. I got you email first.

I found something a bit smaller. Side pressure and it pulled right out.
