Had 20k service completed today (only at 18777 miles, but these 10k intervals make me a bit nervous).

Also used some of my $500 gift card for bike rack.

Dealer again asked how I was enjoying my TDI, I again stated that I loved it, especially the terrific fuel economy. The person I was talking to said they have a lot full of TDI's just sitting there

my wife came with me when I activated my VW cards. My wife is looking for a new better MPG ride to replace her daily driver Suburban. Sat in a toureg and liked it. But said if we get a VW it would have to be the diesel. The gas one didnt justify the MPG move. The dealer brought over a '16 diesel one from the storage area across the street. Said they had lots of them, just sittin, even offered to let us test drive it.

thats right. Its not like the people around the sales floor had anything else to do. the only customers there were sitting in the service area.

These cars will likely be able to run longer intervals after the warranty period is up. Don't let it bother you. I run 15k oil intervals on my '01 and plan to do the same in the '15 when I get past 60k miles.

Do you know how much leeway the dealer will give for oil changes? I did my 10k change about 200 miles early for the same reason as OP but realize now that i can go a lot longer between changes. Blackstone suggested i go for at least 12k in their oil analysis report.

I've never had experience with a warranty claim that involved oil change receipts/mileage, but I would not give them the ammunition of an extended oil drain (even if an analysis was done) if it were me. I'll be waiting till after the warranty period to worry about extended intervals, though I will have an analysis done next month likely at 30k as I'm curious to see how much filling with B5-B10 affects the oil.
