I'm planning on getting a Silverado 1500. I'm sure the day after I do that, I'll flip on the news and I'll hear about how they're testing a new mid-size Duramax in the 1500, lol.I can't believe i am saying this........but maybe its time to move on to GM product and give the Equinox a good look when its out.
It's not the same engine that the cruze had. Not sure on the specs of the new diesel, but at least the out going model was bigger displacement than the one they are talking about for the equinox.Read about it a few hours ago...
Kinda wondering if the same motor as the Cruze in a bigger body might be more than just slow...
Automakers have a history of not offering the lowest power cars in the US, saying they are not a good fit...
So I wonder....just cause they make it does not mean it will be sold here....
When auto makers say they are building it, but don't offer prices....it tends to be more of a feeler IMO.
It is the same diesel motor as the 2017 Cruze. It's not the same engine that the cruze had. Not sure on the specs of the new diesel, but at least the out going model was bigger displacement than the one they are talking about for the equinox.
Are you sure of that? I thought that engine was a 1.4?It is the same diesel motor as the 2017 Cruze.
That's the gas engine. GM's new 4-cyl diesel is a 1.6 litre for both the Cruze (which we knew about) and the Equinox (which we didn't).Are you sure of that? I thought that engine was a 1.4?
I just read that in another thread too. Hadn't heard that they were putting a smaller diesel in the new Cruze. ThanksIt is the same diesel motor as the 2017 Cruze.
That would be nice and I can combine it with my supplier discount.I wonder if GM will have some sort of conquest incentive. It would help.
I hope....Article says the new Equinox is 400 lbs. lighter than the previous version. So maybe the 1.6 diesel will be OK. Americans don't drive that fast anyway. Torque will make it feel quick, as would good gearing.
I've been waiting for that for almost a decade.I'm planning on getting a Silverado 1500. I'm sure the day after I do that, I'll flip on the news and I'll hear about how they're testing a new mid-size Duramax in the 1500, lol.
Yeah...I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.I've been waiting for that for almost a decade.

Still we used to have a Saturn Vue (equinox twin) and very much liked it. I'll check into that.
I was looking forward to the applications of that engine but that was just before GM fell flat on their faces and we all picked them up.I've been waiting for that for almost a decade.
