Hi all, owner of a 1.6tdi Seat Ateca here. Had the car just over two years now and cooming up to 72k miles, its a 2017 model.
Recently had issues with the car, it started one day when I went to start it a major knocking noise came up, switched off started car again and it was gone, but car after this seemed to be sluggish and used a lot of diesel, circa 10mpg, also Error: Start Stop System message was appearing on dash all the time.
Booked the car for a major service ane I had the garage to run diagnostics + compression test which came back ok, their diagnostic tool came back with Camshaft Position Sensor and Pressure Sensor on glow plug in cyl. 3. Got then both replaced and it seemed like all was back to normal with more power and mpg went up to around 30mpg (still much lower than usual but I thought it might take time to go back up?)
Today, 6 days after replacing camshaft sensor and glow plug no. 3 it seemed to be sluggish again, started googling around and figured out maybe dpf so took it for a longer drive at motorway speeds. 40 minutes in and suddenly in 5th gear engine got power, didnt hesitate and started accelerating smoothly.. For 30 seconds, it then lost all the power and glow plug light came on, pulled it to a hard and shoulder and it would not turn over.
Just had it recovered and RAC guy said that it sounded terminal, possibly belt snapped although he didnt run his diagnostic as deemed it pointless.
Run my OBD and codes cooming back are P101, P299, P341.
Any ideas, is it really the belt? No noise when it happened too. It just stalled to a stop. Absolutely heartbroken as it is the only car we got at moment and both commute a fair distance. Assuming a used engine is around 2k then it is probably 3/3.5 including work?
Is it possible that it is just out of the timing rather than a snapped belt?
I am half decent mechanically and worked on timing on much smaller engine (vauxhalls a12xer). I am broke at moment and have no way of getting it diagnosed anywhere, is there anything I could do to see if I will need engine swap/rebuild? I was planning on taking timing cover off to inspect, anything else I could be checking?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance
