2015 VW Passat visual fuel level all lit red dots

Hi all,
The fuel gauge visual level icon (to left of fuel tank fill side of car icon) has suddenly become completely filled with lit red dots. This is the one that will give a flashing yellow notice when you are almost out of fuel.
I could find nothing in the manual about this.
Hoping someone will know how to reset it!

On my car (when ignition is on) those dots have always been lit, just like the high temp and red-line dots. Maybe yours have just started to work normally?

I've had the car for 3 years and it has never showed red dots for anything before.
My tank was less than 1/3 full when I took the picture.
