Probably not. Castrol uses the Edge label on a lot of oils, but I don't think there's any Castrol that meets VW's 507.00 spec for your cal. Mobil 1 ESP, Pentosin SP2, Rowe DPF, Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4200, Total Long Life, and VW's 0w30 oil all meet the spec for your car.

The Castrol edge 5w30 LL is a 507 spec oil.

Castrol no longer shows that product on its site and a couple retailers I checked (Autozone, Walmart) have no stock. I wonder if it's NLA. Castrol used to be the factory fill for VW TDIs, and we used to buy the 507.00 Castrol from the dealer. But they switched to a repackaged Mobil 0W30 product a while ago. The 507.00 oil was never available from any distributor, dealers only. Now I don't think it's available at all.

I know there are a lot of AMS oil trolls, but that's what I use on my 2015 Beetle convertible EA288 CVCA. It conforms to 507.00, I have been using AMS OIL in all our cars for over 10 years (gas cars included)

It's been said here many times, Amsoil doesn't have any VW certifications. What the spec sheet says is Use in gasoline or diesel vehicles that require any of the following specifications: That's not the same as having an "Approval" which means the manufacturer has certified the oil as meeting their specifications.

I'm not saying anything about the quality of Amsoil's products, just saying it doesn't have any VW approvals. Could that cause a problem in the event of a warranty claim for engine repairs? I honestly kind of doubt it, but one never knows.

Amsoil actually did get the VW 504/507manufacturer approval for their 5w30 AEL product. That's the only spec they bothered to get officially approved for the AEL product.

Full disclosure I am an Amsoil dealer. The big deal with using a Euro oil is it having the right sulfates and stuff in it what they call SAPS. Amsoil does their own torture testing and they take it serious they just don't pay to have someone else's certification. It's what we run in my wife's beetle as it is engineered for the Euro engine. More than happy to help just give me a call 918-210-1153 can have it shipped to your door.

Amsoil has some top notch oils, imo - but they aren't always a great value. A quart of AEL goes for like $18! You can get a 5 quart jug of Mobil1 5w30 ESP at AutoZone for $37.
