Hello all,
So, back in mid-December I received and installed my ForstHeater coolant heater. I had read as much as I could find on this forum, but just didn't favor any of the power cord options I saw.
Terry's installation guide was great, but his suggestion to cut one or two of the cells of the honeycomb lower grill on the NMS and leave the power cord hanging out was not for me.
Here's what I did instead...
3 prong Plug Adapter, USA NEMA 5-15R to IEC 60320-C14 from Amazon.com ($5.95)
ICE 60320-C14 adapter installed.
Adapter roughed in with JB Weld PlastiWeld putty.
I cut the female end off of a donor ICE 60320-C14 cord and used the same JB Weld PlastiWeld putty to attach a TDI grill badge.
Front of grill badge plug filler
With the heavy duty cord plugged in
I tried to color match the epoxy putty, but did a crap job of it. I'll get it worked out.
"Final" result...
So far I am really happy with this installation; One-handed connect/disconnect. No dangling power cord. No road gunk mucking up the plug.
Cheers,
Kevin
