2015 golf TDI SE
Hi all I need help

I have to ask a question if anybody would know I just picked up a 2015 TDI se golf hatchback 81300 miles on it.
It has the continental contact sport mud and snow tires on it.
when I go like 25/ 30 miles an hour I hear this roaring noise in the car, but if I open the windows, I can’t hear it. Does anybody know if this is a transmission issue or the mud and snow tires, I’ve tried everything gliding and neutral. I can’t figure it out?

Could be anything. A wheel bearing maybe? You could check that by raising the wheel off the ground to see if it sounds kind of rough when you spin it, and check for any looseness in the bearing by trying to tilt the tire back and forth.

This video shows how to check wheel bearings:

Had that same issue on my wife's A3 e-tron (same car, but with Audi "clothes"), and just recently with friend's Golf with 130K km (~80K miles). She (friend) said that it sounded like the engine was revving and not shifting, but taking it out for a drive, if I put it in neutral so revs were "idle" speed, the noise didn't change at all.
Got both wheels up into the air and checked for play - nothing.
Spun the wheels by hand - both felt the same.
Started the car and put it in drive so the wheels were turning, put my fingers on the springs and compared the amount of "buzz" between the two and, yep - one (RH / passenger side) definitely more than the other. That sucker was corroded in there on our friend's car - really had to hammer it out from behind beating on the bolts. Whereas on my wife's A3 - I could easily pull it out by hand from the front.
Golf is the smaller 80mm hub.
GTI and A3 is the larger 85mm option.

Could be uneven wear on the tires. Check the inner tread with your hand and see if you notice its bumpy or cupping. That can cause the noise you're most likely hearing. Hard to tell without a video or sound clip really.

There are just too many to list....
Snow tires (even brand new ones) make an obvious difference in sound. There's no mistaking when I put them on. That may be all you are hearing. And obviously cupped poor quality never rotated etc. tires will have a similar issue.

Wheel bearing sound is slightly different, and isn't noticeable until you get moving... tire sound is there as soon as the car starts rolling, and builds right alongside road speed. I can notice tires just idling across the shop.
