Link above, plus this from VW press release:
(nothing too surprising)

Passat
For 2014, the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine will be replaced by a 1.8-liter turbocharged and direct-injection four-cylinder engine that makes 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Along with the engine comes a change from hydraulic to electro-mechanical power steering. Other changes include:

- Wolfsburg Edition carries over from 2013; now includes leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake
- VW Car-Net connectivity system available on Wolfsburg and higher trims
- Two-tone seats available on all SE trims
- Rearview camera introduced on SE and higher trims
- Keyless access with push-button start and new “Bristol” 18-inch wheels available on select SE trims.
- A Sport trim will be introduced later this year. Details will be released closer to launch
- MDI now standard on Wolfsburg Edition and higher trims

Almost exactly what I expected. Still very happy with our 12 just a bit away from rolling over 40 k miles.

anyone notice they mentioned a 5 speed but failed to mention the 6 speed? I sure hope they keep the 6 speed around and dont drop a gear.
hopefully just a typo

The 3.6-liter V-6 and 2.0-liter diesel carry over to 2014 models, as do the five-speed manual, six-speed automatic and six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

Had thought maybe the EA288 diesel might debut in 2014. Guess we'll have to wait.

Would be really nice if the Sport trim was a TDI with manual that offered more features than our current base SE only option..... Of course, I expect it to look similar to the performance concept with a gas engine that was shown earlier this year.

I've been holding off on purchasing a Passat with the hopes that the '14s might have offered a better set of options/configurations with a manual transmission. Sigh......

I was going to hold off too but decided to pull the trigger in March. Some dealers are offering amazing trade in values on vehicles that are relatively new because of the strong sales in the used car market. I was going to roll the dice and possibly upgrade if anything substantial changed after a year of ownership. This of course is very subjective given the hit you can take on depreciation should anything I said above did not hold true. So many variables there.

could the"Sport" trim be the ever exclusive exterior led kit/package? i can only dream!:p
I don't think that the sport trim will be any more than the "R" line body kit + lip spoiler as a factory option rather than dealer install. Maybe some 2 tone wheels. Might be a decent move though because my local dealer had one with all of the body addons and some 18's on an SE for a $5,600 markup.

The manual SE plus option of a sunroof might be just enought to push me over the hurdle of getting a new car. As it stands, I am locked in a dilemma as to whether I'd rather wait for the Mazda 6 diesel—most likely auto only but available with a presumably full loaded configuration—or sacrifice features for the manual.
Sure, I could go DSG and get the options on a VW, but the manual and the clutch on the TDI are quite enjoyable to me, moreso than manuals on family sedans/CUVs from others. The Mazda has best-in-class looks, and the diesel and automatic combo is, reportedly, very enjoyable.
All in all, I continue to wait and hope for some more information and someone willing to offer a car for sale that's good enough to justify the purchase.

Looks like they're adding a couple of nice features to the SE.
How well do turbos hold up on VW gassers?
Just wondering since a gasser has a lot higher exhaust temp.

Vw has been making turbo charged cars for a long time. I wouldn't think of it as a weak point even in a new engine.

The 1.8 Turbo powerplant has been around for a loooooooooooooooong time. It's a proven winner for most VW fans.

Some highlights are already online at the VW.com website....

In addition, the brochures are available from your dealer. I picked up the 2014 Passat brochure on Saturday and the only difference I could point out was the availability of the two-tone seats for the SE's (besides the 1.8). The pictures and content were so similar to 2012/13, I would not have believe it was for 2014 if it was not for the model year print on the cover.

My sales guy does not think visibility and orderability will be turned on for a few more weeks. There was a sense that VW was holding back on the 2014s to help clear the 13's out. My dealer has almost twice as many Passats on the lot as Jettas. Earlier in the year, it was the other way around.

After I posted this I searched again & found that VW had them on their site now! Looks like rear view camera is standard now on the SE's. I'm looking for a 6M, so that is a nice addition.

Huh??? I think you are a little confused. Diesel EGT's are higher than Gas.

This 1.8 is a COMPLETELY different motor than the previous VW 1.8's. You can't compare them. The only thing they have in common is there displacement.

I finally conceded the fact that VW will not offer an SEL with a 6MT. After two years of hope and considering the competition (Fusion Se with 6MT), I put down a deposit on a Platinum Grey 2014 Passat SE with 6MT on Friday night. My family will really appreciate the larger back seat area. Two adults and a baby seat don't create great family dynamics on long road trips in the Jetta.

The car is built and is sitting in TN. We have the VIN and the dealer has secured the vehicle from the 'pool'. My sales guy is currently trying to get some idea of when VW will release the car.

MCROTH: great catch on the rear view camera. I didn't see it. My sales guys did confirm this change point for the SE's. In addition, he mentioned the MDI interface in the center console.

yup, all SE's get the rear camera and all the electric power steering. should bump up the MPG's as your not spinning a hydraulic pump anymore :D
I wish I had waited for a '14 but got the 2013 for $27K

Only thing your missing is the camera. Your 13 has the electro mechanical steering already.

That's why the Passats get a 180 amp alternator ;) If you have everything turned on, and quickly crank the wheel you can see the lights dim.

The trim around the radio and climatronic is flat black now, not gloss black.

If we're getting MFA+ clusters in the US that would be neat!
