Coming home tonight I have now had my first problem with my car after 35k miles. While cruising at 70 mph the glow plug light started to flash and prior to that (about 3 miles) I felt a pulse/surge while at speed. While driving it to the dealership I felt no noticeable loss of power and the mileage looked to be about what it should be for the roads I was on. It is now at the dealership (Hendrick VW Concord, NC) and from talking with the service tech that was there and telling him what I was experiencing he fells like it might be the DPF as the last 3 or 4 regens did not go to the normal RPM for a regen (1000 normal vs 800 for the last ones I had). Anyone have any other thoughts on if what I was told could/would be the issue or something else? I should have the trouble codes in the morning from them to give more information on the exact issue.
For information my normal drive everyday is 70 miles round trip with about 80% highway at 65 to 70 mph with 100+ mile trips about every other month. I also fill up between 3 stations when home (all high traffic for diesel) and use an additive (Howes or Power Service Silver) to help with lubrication.
