Hello, I have a 2014 Jetta TDI with 104000km on it. Recently, the heater stopped working and now is blowing almost cold air. The vehicle does not appear to be overheating and the coolant level is normal. However, the coolant fan did run after the car was shut off a couple of times in the days before the heater stopped working. But of course the fan runs sometimes anyway so I don't know if it's a symptom of trouble or not. The airflow doors inside the heater seem to be working correctly.
The only other thing that may be significant is that the alternator was replaced by the dealer under the extended warranty about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I don't see how this would affect the cooling system, but it is in the same area as the water pump, so....
If anyone has any ideas what it could be, please let me know. I will be taking the car in to see if they'll warranty it, but if it's something simple I'd rather do it myself and save the hassle of being without a car for a few days.
Thanks!
