2013 Passat built in Germany?

Brand spanking new here. I've got a white/black mt I'm waiting on - thought it was just being dealer-traded (naive). I got an update yesterday that it was still en route from Germany. Made no sense to me as I thought they were all made in TN.
Have you heard this before? I can't find any info on these being made in Germany (all to the contrary) and it's making me a bit skeptical about the dealer.

That's what I figured, grrr, but why lie about that?? I pushed back once, I'll do it again.

I believe the engines and transmissions are the only things built in Germany on the NMS B7. The rest is in the volunteer state.

If you've been provided with a VIN, you can easily tell where it's made. If it starts with a 1 or 4, it's made in the US (mine starts with a 1). If it's made in Germany, it starts with a W.

I've pushed back again and asked for the VIN (thanks Mr. Furious).
For the love of whatever, if this guy is lying- someone here will have to help me find this legit elsewhere. I can't stand shopping and the very least of all for any car. I know what I want and what I'll pay and that's that.

Follow up... yes, he had bad info hmm. Yes, diesel engine is built in Germany, assembly in TN.
He did give me a VIN which does start with 1.
Any other 'cool' stuff I can figure out with a known VIN or just the fact that the thing does exist?
