My buddy just picked up a 2013 golf Tdi and hes looking to get more power from it is anyone making tunes for the car??? If so what does everyone suggest?

Search for CR TDI tune, or common rail TDI tune, or 2.0 TDI tune, etc. Lot's of options. Malone, RocketChip, APR, Revo, and the list goes on.

Yes you are right, MY 2013 can be tuned as long production date is prior 1-1-2013 afterwards cannot be done, that's the new anti tuning started, of course this is just temporary.They can still be tuned with the right equipment

I haven't found much other then a revo tune he is looking for inter cooler/injection upgrades as well

I all the sudden just became glad I bought my 2013 in Nov 2012, though I am trying to get a little further into my break-in before I tune it.
I would be interested to know if there are intercooler upgrades available, I haven't seen any.

Damn my Golf was born in January 2013; I guess I am boned for the time being? I emailed Mallone and he didn't seem concerned and said he's done plenty of 2013's w/out issue.. I was wanting to get a Stg 1.5 Tune after I rackup a few thousand miles w/out any trouble. (~June)

Its possible that there could be issues as early in 2012 there were 2012 ECUs that we couldn't tune but it seems like they have all been cracked now. It doesn't hurt to try and crack it but there is no guarantee on a new ecu that it can be done.
I told you late 2013 they cannot be done ....

My 2013 Golf could not be tuned.
The tuner said there was a "Data Protection Enabled" error preventing his system from even reading the program files off of the ECU (basically, he couldn't export the data at all).
He said he had tuned a 2013 Passat, and 2 Jettas (the Jettas he said were both Mexican market Jettas - w/Mexican plates; so not sure if that changes things any - other than them being brand new, without DPF from the factory). Based on this though, he believes the problem to be tied to the manufacture location (US/Mexico built - can be tuned; German built - cannot yet). Likely because, as he stated, Germany insurance rates are based on HP of the vehicle, so more is invested in preventing changes to cars made in Germany than is spent to prevent changes to cars made elsewhere for VW.
For anyone curios, I went to a local shop, V-Dub Autohaus, specializes in VW and Audi only. The owner is a former VW employee who worked for VW in Germany and China if I recall our conversation correctly (maybe his brother though - also worked for VW) for several years before moving to the states.

It was a golf specifically, or just a general 2013 TDI?They can still be tuned with the right equipment

If VDUB AUTOHAUS says it can't be tuned then I say wait. I used him as well and I can't be more pleased with the results. I'm sure plenty of tuners would just take your money..but it should speak volumes of his integrity that he said he couldn't(yet). When he can he will...& you will be pleased. Enjoy the car stock for a bit and wait until they(tuners) crack the code.

I second that. I was totally gung-ho about tuning my 2012 JSW TDI (even before taking delivery) but have since decided to wait. Tuning is a leap of faith of sorts because if something goes sideways, you won't get warranty service from your VW dealership and will be completely dependent on the shop that did the tuning. Also, no one really knows the long term (100,000 miles) effects on other components like the turbo and drivetrain. Post-tuning wear & tear is correlated with how much you rip into the throttle but absolute power does corrupt absolutely - so to speak.
That said, I'm probably going to tune my JSW a year from now once I get to know my car a little more.
GOLF and Jetta have the same "same" ECU and the T-PROT is inside and it is related to production date on the ECU.
2013 cannot be done....

The new protections is well encrypted, it could take 1 year before it can be tuned, maybe by the YEAR END !!

You might not be able to do any 2013 ECUs but I've got happy 2013
customers that can vouch for our ability to do them. Did one today. But it is true, not all 2013's can be tuned.
