Thought I had my blower motor resistor going bad (air not coming out as 'forcefully', but still very cold or very hot, and no difference between recirc/non-recirc, or left and right sides). VCDS says the temp flap motors are bad. From doing some searches, looks like the dash needs to come out. I do have a funny smell, almost like a catless car in front of me sometimes. I'm assuming something is melting inside the motors. Jut want to confirm I'm going to be removing my dash.

The first two you can do with the dash in. Not real fun, but doable. The fresh air one I think is dash out.

" I'm assuming something is melting inside the motors. "

More likely I think is the auto recirculation isn't working and the system is stuck on outside air. I’ve had three of these door motors fail, and all worked great after I took them apart and put them back together (but not back in the car) so I think it’s the position sensor inside them that is failing.

One for sure had a very intermittent sensor output.
