My first post and already crying for help....I'm afraid this thread might be as bad as a "What oil should I use" post, but here it goes anyway....I still have about 20,000 miles left on my extended warranty which will get me to 160,000 but I'll be there in less than a year. Not worried about my HPFP now, but trying to plan for life after warranty. It looks like this issue was a big deal early on but not much has been said about it in the last few years. Have I just caused my self worry over nothing based on a few internet posts or should I seriously be looking in to taking care of this now? Looks like a CP3 conversion is more than I want to spend, especially if I can just fab up an extra 2 micron filter. I know there were kits being made in the past, but it looks like those are no longer available. Looking for ideas, kits, links, DIY etc for what everyone is doing about this currently.

Thanks for any help.

What fuel have you given it? Chevton or ???. I think thats huge. My b5.5 had 225k on the original punp when the car was sold. Get an oil analysis. That is a great preventative tool.

I've only fed it Buc-ee's diesel here in TX (along with a little Diesel Kleen in each tank). When I first read about the CP4 issue I figured I'd just buy a catastrophe kit not realizing they can't be found any longer. I think at this point in trying to find a solution to a problem that really isn't that big of an issue.

I wouldn't expect the worse if you plan for the best. Sounds like your in good shape. I would imagine Texas has high quality lubricity and cetane standards on diesel like California. I add a shot of MMO or diesel clean along with Chevron. My oil analysis metal wear on my JSW is great, I didn't do oil analysis on the b5.5 but would put money on a great HPFP @ 225k.

Thanks again!....I just did an oil change so I'm not due for a while. Next time I'll try to remember to snag a sample. I think I still have some Blackstone containers in a shop cabinet.....Also like the Mustang in you sig...I'm finishing up a 67 S-Code coupe hopefully within the year.
