2012 Jetta
Hi folks,

First time poster!

I got quoted for a couple of potential oil leaks in my 2012 Jetta TDI. The parts seem really cheap but the labor is quite expensive. Are there videos/resources on how to replace these components? I would like to try and tackle these myself. I've tried Youlube to try and educate me on this but didn't have much luck (perhaps l'm looking in the wrong spots?). I'm ok with wrenching but do look up videos/other resources to ensure I know what I'm doing. Any help will be much appreciated!

Those pictures are very difficult to decipher. I would determine on your own what is definitively leaking, take it apart and see why it's leaking. This isn't supposed to sound crazy but sometimes those banjo bolts get loose. The banjo bolt itself has rubber rings on it that are supposed to seal the oil on the inside. Did you put a big socket on that thing to see if it was finger tight?
This post is nearly 3 weeks old now. How did you get on?

Thanks man. I am yet to do the job but now have all the parts I need to do it. My Jetta recently threw the p0401 and p2002 codes so it looks like I’ll have to get the dpf and egr replaced too (out of warranty, sadly). But I’ll keep you posted on how I make out! I’ll try and take better pics of the area too as I get on with the job.

I don't know what the rules are in Nebraska, but it might be cheaper to get the car tuned and delete the dpf and egr. I did that and it's been amazing...
A bit of an investment, depending on how you either make or buy your downpipe, but swapping that valve out with a straight pipe (but really just disabling its functionality - you can leave it there) will pay off in the long run by not choking the intake.
