I had a great visit meeting all the folks.

Picked up some pointers on what TDIs are all about. So far, I am enjoying ownership of one of the models.

Hope to have many more years of great cars and meeting friendly folks.

A wonderful time, despite missing a few regulars. Glad to finally have a gtg where I can socialize a bit! I needed that!

Thanks Rich for hosting a very nice, low key GTG.
The only thing missing was the fanning w/ palm fronds and being fed peeled grapes.
I had a great time!
Shalon- you'll have to come up again soon. We'll hang out at the firepit and I promise to have the makings for S'mores on hand next time.
As usual, I can't wait until the next one!

I been out of town for almost all day and made to Fixum only after 6.00pm. I missed almost everyone who was there, but some guys/gals was there. Was nice relaxing time after busy day. Meet some new TDI'ers. Thanks guys for the compliments about my latest TDI conversion '99 VW EUROVAN MV.This was actually its first public appearance after 3 month being build. I just passed DEQ and registered it as diesel vehicle few days ago.
Thank you Rich for the hosting and all guys for orginising.

Just a "short" 2 1/2 hours from now and I'll be home! Great GTG as always Rich, even though we didn't get a round of golf in. Maybe next year!
It was great seeing everyone again and meeting some new people! This is my favorite GTG aside from Jorry's (nothing personal Rich, but the shop can't compare to Lk Stevens!) and anyone that hasn't been down before should plan to get out here next year!!

Zippy, you were definitely the furthest traveled, nice to meet you right as my son and I were leaving.
Nice meeting you also! Just got home a short while ago. 15 hours up (with a brief stop at Keli's to freshen up) and 12 hours back, with a 10 min nap @ 3:30 this afternoon. :D No Flat tires this time, the patch held up well. It's all worth it just to see Al's reaction to his car once Michelle posts the pics. ;) No harm came to it, I swear...but fun was had.

So it seems that the East Coast is trickling in to the West Coast and invading GTG's! Peter, it was EXCELLENT to see you and talk with you again. Definitely the smallest of our "WestFest" (ha! I said it!) GTG's, but still fun. Safe travels, thanks for coming out! I hope to see you at Fest in a month!
Rachel! WELCOME to the West Coast! :D:D:D
Claire and I had a wonderful time.
all I have to say is... aaaaawwwwweeeee... definitely a daddy's girl, pink wrap and all. Congrats, I'm thrilled to have met her.
Shalon- you'll have to come up again soon. We'll hang out at the firepit and I promise to have the makings for S'mores on hand next time.
I hope that next time I come up, it'll be a social call and I'll get to actually see more of Portland, instead of just Al's car. Thanks for hosting me, Keli. Your kindness is always heart-warming.

Rich, thanks for hosting. Aaron, thanks for Organizing. Justin, Thanks for socializing. See most of you in a month or so!!!

Thanks to all of you who have mentioned my car in passing in your previous posts; that it shouldn't languish in vain. Let's post up the LCR pictures. I'm interested to see the indignities and frolicking, mindless fun that my unwitting, half assembled car was subjected to at the fest.

Did I mention that there was a small but immensely powerful VooDoo doll hanging from the rear view mirror, watching each and every one of you during the entire time???

Just like last time, this message is posted on behalf of Rich. Again, I swear this is not me talking – I would NEVER say any of the following things – I think you all know that:

Hello my fellow TDI-Clubbys. How are you all today? This is Rich speaking – who else did you think it was? After a rough weekend, I am fine again. Did I ever tell you guys that you are a pain in the you-know-what?? But I digress.

Well anyway, again, after much thought and soul searching, I am just posting up to let you know the winners of the various event classifications on Saturday. Here goes:

Winner of the ‘Best Half-Assembled Car in the Shined by Rich Himself’ category – LCR. Big round of applause please.
Winner of the ‘Most Miles Traveled By a Car Whose Owner Wasn’t There’ division – LCR. Yay, yay, rah, wahoo!
Winner of the ‘Peoples Choice Lone Pine Root Beer’ award – said award being a half a pallet of Lone Pine Hand Crafted, Mescaline Tinged, Medicinal and Artisanal Brewed, Limited Production, Root Beer; supplied from his secret private stock by none other than Aaron himself. Give it up again (!!!) for LCR.

On behalf of LCR, I would like to say thank you very much to everyone for selecting him for this award. While this will make setting up the front end geometry on his car a bit complicated – as we put the half pallet load in his trunk, and the car now sits a foot lower – I’m still confident that with my mechanical skills, I can either figure out a way to remedy this, or just grab 1 or 2 bottles of the stuff, and by the time I’ve drunk them, well, I’m pretty sure I won’t notice the problem any longer. ‘Nuff said.

Again, my diminutive, fellow TDI-Clubby friends, thanks to each and every one of you for coming out to the ‘Left Coast GTG at the Current Site of LCR’s Car’, this past weekend. Peace Ouch!, Rich

Oh yeah, the VooDoo doll – this might have had something to do with how I spent my Sunday, so I’ve decided to fly the straight and narrow – my next call, before I even stop for lunch today, is to Troy to see where LCR’s parts are. Don’t worry LCR – you’ve made your point, and I love you like a brother. Again, Peace Ouch, Rich

When I saw the picture yesterday I thought there was a reason you didn't enlarge it.

Wow, I hope those ladies stay away from MY car!
Bah! Trunk surfing is a tradition that goes way back and started during the New England First Friday GTG's - when I realized just how shot Zippy's suspension really was. See people's exhibit A, B, & C below. Al should be proud to be part of this long standing tradition! Besides, while their may be footprints on his trunk, at least we took our shoes off! ;) It's a courtesy. :D

Trust me, I am honored. There really should be an ultra-exclusive 'Zippy Surfed My Trunk' club, with small, cryptic, window stickers to members only. Ladies, I did notice that you took your shoes off, which was very courteous.

Marcel, thank you for posing with it also. It wouldn't surprise me if every time you walk past it in the shop, you strike a momentary informal pose without breaking stride. If only Rich would pay as much attention to my car as you guys do. Keep up the good work . . .

What are you thinking!?!??? Those ladies can brush up against my car, anytime. I'm already seeing a menage a quatre with me, my car, and 'those' two ladies.
Wow, I hope those ladies stay away from MY car!
Ladies Wet 'T'-Shirt / Car Wash Fundraiser / Contest at the next annual 'Left Coast GTG at the Site of LCR's Car', anybody??? I say next annual, because at the rate Rich is working, it will still be there . . .

Glad you finally got a picture of your car, Al. And I can personally vouch for Zippy's long history of trunk surfing.

I only have a couple pictures to share, one of the "Haus" with the GTG in action.

And although there were a lot of great cars there, more really nice MKIV cars than I've seen in a while (how do you guys keep your paint looking so good?), this was my favorite.

Partly because who doesn't like a 2-door Golf? But also because of this:

That is something to strive for. And as I understand it, those miles are on original injectors, pump, engine internals, and clutch. Amazing.
