Just picked up a 2011 Jetta TDI in White Gold with Cornsilk interior. Was in an accident last week with my 2010 Prius, and was ready for something else. I am a Toyota guy, but nothing was really appealing to me. I was going to look at a Focus or Elantra, and a friend said I should look at a TDI. I thought TDIs were in short supply, and bringing top dollar. I was surprised how affordable they are. Picked up this one for $600 below invoice.

I have only owned one VW in the past. It was an 96 Jetta Trek. It was a total piece of junk. I really hope they have improved.

I was waiting to see what you guys said about that. The car came into the dealer from the port like that. Anyone have any idea what they usually come on? I think they look better than the 5 spokers that are standard.

The Joda come on the SEL in the U.S., right? They also had an SE at this same dealership with what I think were Jodas, but they were black and silver. There was a $100.00 charge on the sticker for the wheels. There was not any charge on my car for the wheels.

Are these wheels from a different year? What did they originally come on?

when i went into get my recall done, Chapman had a white gold, next to a silver up front. That was the first time I saw white gold in person. Pictures truly do that color no justice.

Thanks!

Bought it at Camelback. Car came from Peoria. Car was $1,700.00 cheaper at Camelback.

Yeah, these pics don't look to great. Much better in person.

For whatever reason they put the 17s on the highline w/Nav TDI in Canada, but down here in the states they only come in 16s. And the TDI w/Nav is essentially the highline. Oh well, I am on the hunt for some 17s possibly 18s though.

Yeah I am definitely looking to do some new wheels. Im thinking 18's or 19's but im sure springs for the TDI are on the bottom of the list of priorities for aftermarkets companies. meh I dont mind the stockers.

If there was a car with NAV around that I liked, I would have got it. But there just werent any. I didn't really care if I had NAV or not, but would have like the extras that came with the NAV like the keyless and the adjustable seat.

I was having trouble deciding whether I wanted a Jetta or Golf. I decided the Jetta fit my lifestyle better, and was a better value. It was a tough decision, though.

Did Chapman give you a good deal when you bought yours?

I've been wondering about this myself. Can you describe the difference?
The easiest way to explain it is in the shade or low light both colors (silver and white gold) look the same, but in the sun the gold shines!

I do like the color. I almost always buy white, but I didn't care too much for the white on the Jetta. I did not get to see a silver one, but would not have bought it anyway. Black interiors in AZ suck. The black is just to monochrome for me, too. Whatever I bought had to have the cornsilk.

I describe the white gold to friends as being pearl white.

Think of White Gold being a mix of silver, white and a hint of gold metallic paints mixed together. One benefit of White Gold is that dirt and road grime don't show as much as it does on white paint.

Thanks for the descriptions. Sounds like a combination of pearl and metallic finishes. Regarding not looking dirty, I tell folks "silver isn't my favorite color, but makes the car look clean the longest." Been driving Reflex Silver for 10 years and ready for a change -- however still desire a 'looks clean the longest' color.

EDIT: Also digging the color on the proposed 2012 NCC, "Tungsten Silver Metallic" http://www.cartype.com/pages/4526/volkswagen_new_compact_coupe_ncc__2010

I was impossible to get a 2011 with nav in California without ordering it and waiting 4 months to get the car. The dealer wanted 2k to put one in and that was a non starter.
Just got a $150 Garmin 255w and it's all good.

Do you remember the "suede silver" that was on the Jetta in the 90's? It kinda looks like that IMO. I hope the white gold holds up in tha Arizona sun. How has the paint quality been on VW's in recent years?

Been living with the Jetta for 3 weeks now. So far, so good. No problems at all, except for a couple rattles. I like the manual transmission better than I thought I would. I think that this car was a great value for what you get. Only 1,500 miles at this point. Interesting to see how it holds up over the long run.

I traded in my 2010 Prius. Honestly, I don't miss it at all. The Jetta is definitely more engaging to drive. The A/C works much better on the Jetta also, which is important here in the desert. So far the mileage has not been spectacular, but seems to be increasing.

Mileage will increase. My first tank was 32mpg, followed by 34, then 37. It keeps going up with every tank and the engine gets broken in a bit.

I now have about 3,500 miles on the car. Only two items to report. First, rattles on drivers door. The silver trim piece that runs from the door handle towards the rear of the car is very loose. Towards the back of that piece, it really rattles. The other item is the ooey gooey mess that started dripping from under my car when it hit 113 here last week. It is all over my drivay where I park. Looks like melted wax.

Stopped by the dealer, and they already knew about that plastic trim on the door. Must be common. They told me that the ooey gooey mess would go away after one Arizona summer that it was something VW puts on the cars for shipping. They said that when I bring it in they will also do the fix on the windows leaking air.

Otherwise, still like the car. Get alot of compliments.

Very nice. The Cornsilk interior is decent looking. Even though I'm in the valley of the sun too, I have to have a dark exterior with a black interior... Lol. I agree though, the HVAC on the Jetta's is far better than Jap cars I have owned. And alot better than my parents Honda Civic Hybrid. I'm at 54,500 on my 2010. Loving ever min.
