2011 Lock/Unlock

Is there a way to modify what happens when you lock/unlock a 2011 Jetta TDI? Currently when I lock the car it doesn't make a sound or flash lights. Is there a way to change this? I like to get some sort of confirmation that the car is locked.

you should be getting that annoying beep and flashing lights. If you are not getting either one, it means one of the doors, trunk is not closed properly.

Check the doors & trunk like Mo said. If that doesn't work, I'd take it back to the dealer & let them look at it.

I'll Check with the dealer. All the doors are shut and they are being locked but no flashing lights or noise

Mine came from the dealer with the horn sounding and lights flashing on every lock command, but only lights flashing on unlock command. The horn sounding was unwanted (coming home late and potentially waking my neighbors just to lock my car).

According to the manual, this is a dealer-only fix, which entails sending commands to the car computer (VCDS/VAG-COM). I took mine to the dealer for the complementary 1st service check, and they did it for free: now I only have flashing lights for both lock and unlock.

yeah, dealers in FL do not yet have a VCDS that will turn off the horn. i had to find a guy (private individual) locally with a VCDS that could do it. he also programmed the car to roll the windows up and down with the key fob which is cool.

I also want this done but I've read on another thread that people are not familiar enough with the 11' Jetta. Do you remember the code they used?

i got the guy's number from a writer in the service bay at the dealer.

called the guy with the VCDS and met him an hour later in the parking lot of Lowes. 15 minutes and $25 later it was done. no problems whatsoever with doing the 2011. if the software will do a MKVI then it will do your car.

my neighbors are very happy. lol

you need to have the proper cable and the latest VCDS Beta 11.2 and you should be able to do it all.
