2011 Jetta TDI - P047F - Exhaust Pressure Control Valve (EPCV)

Last week I noticed the check engine light came on on my Jetta. I have a 2011 with 73,000 miles (I do a lot of highway driving, 90% highway 10% city). The error code came up with P047F - Exhaust Pressure Control Valve (EPCV) stuck open??? So far I have not noticed anything different with mileage or performance.


Any ideas on what this even means, or if its a simple fix?
Will it affect mileage or cause harm (mechanically) to the car EX: Overboost situation?

Typically check engine light is for emissions crap, is this covered under the VW emissions warranty?

The exhaust flap is covered under warranty until 120k. Take it to the dealer and you'll get a new one for free.

I am at the dealer getting mine replace right now. 100kmiles. yes it is free, said it would take less then an hour.

Every dealer I call, they say that it's not warranty over 80000km (46000 miles) (car base warranty).

In canada it's covered under emissions up to 133,000km
I had a 2010 golf wagon with 97,000 k and it was covered , took about 45 mins.
No code after the replacement

Yep it is!
They even extended it, I am looking at paperwork that was sent to me from VW Canada back in March of 2013

Had our's replaced today at 16000 kilometre's, was told part cost $689.00, check engine had come on the other day and went out after car sitting for an hour, came on today in Kamloops and wouldn't go out, straight to the dealer and fixed in 1 hr. 2013 Golf TDI
