My multi function display has some issues but i'm wondering if its normal or something that i should be worried about! This is for a 2011 VW Jetta TDI highline with MFD.

if you cycle thru the mfd and get the engine ran hours, there is (1) and (2), 1 is for how many hours the car has been driven and resets itself if the car has been off more then 2 hrs. But the (2) setting should not reset itself unless you hold the reset button. On my car it resets itself randomly. I'm wondering if this is normal, or maybe something is wrong with the MFD.
Last time it happened at 7 hrs, and now its at 4 hrs again.

In my wife's car, 2010 Golf, the engine ran hrs is at 95 days and its coming up for an oil change. I usually like to keep track of hours as well just for comparision.

on my 2010 the "#2" read out reset ever 2000 miles, at least that's what it does for the total consumption.

Maybe they dropped this to reset every 1000 miles on the 2011s.

Dont think so my car just has 1000 miles on it and it has reset a couple times.

You mean it is resetting when the particulate filter burns off? That would make sense with the times your posting.

set the MFD to farenheit and you should be OK for nearly all days of the year in toronto. you would still be SOL up in timmins though.

that **** up is pretty stupid, but i'll check my wife's 2004 passat wagon as it has a similar sized MFD, albeit red.

I noticed the temp thing too, at first i thought that it was a malfuction, showing 15C, but the minus shows up eventually when you hit single digits

I noticed the lack of a minus sign as well but figured you'd have to be pretty dense to figure that it was +15 when the ground is covered in snow. For us Canucks it can be used as a reminder of things to come when thew snowflake symbol disappears ( about 4 months from now!).

I'm planning to leave the winter coat behind and put on the shorts and T shirt when the display shows 30C in February!:)

yesterday, the MFD failed to give any indication of fuel amount on the fuel guage, as though the fuel tank was empty. however cycling through the MFD showed that i had 570kms to empty. i had to turn the car off then on again to reset the fuel guage.

i think what happened was that i didnt press the start engine button long enough the first time, then pressed it again right away and the car started, so i moved along with the fuel guage stuck in a kind of a limbo state.

convert from metric

Hey just got my 2011 Jetta TDI Highline last week I love it!! Is there a way to change the units in the MFD from metric? So i could see MPG instead of L/100k?

I've just come back from the " dark side " ( 08,2.5 ),into a 2011 Highline
Jetta.
Got it last Thursday, and I've noticed a couple of things.
First, there's no temperature guage that I can find, and I can't find a way to switch from metric to imperial.
Is it possible to start my car with an actual key ?
Keyless entry / start is nice, but what if the key fob battery packs it in ?
Is there an "accessory" setting for the keyless ignition ?

Thanks, and it's good to be back

Hey rick, there is a temp guage if you cycle through the mfd with the right hand (passenger) side stock with the button on the end it will come up. I do not think its possible to convert it to metric.

There is no way to start the car with a key however if you look in the manual there is a way to start the car if the start button fails.

Also if you just tap the start button that is your accessory function....also if you need to shut the car down while its moving double tap the start button.

The temp guage that you mention here is only for outside ambient temp but there is no engine temp gauge on this display.
