2010 VW Jetta TDI - Streaming Bluetooth Audio Problems

I have a 2010 VW Jetta TDI with the premium touchscreen stereo. I can connect my phone to the car using bluetooth, but cannot figure out how to connect the Bluetooth audio to stream music. I have checked in the bluetooth settings on my phone and only has the option for phone audio. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth module underneath the passenger seat. Ive also turned the bluetooth audio off and back on under the settings on the stereo. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Android phone. Please help!!

This might be too simple of a solution, but the music has to be playing for the radio in my car to see the bluetooth audio. Did you start the music playing?

Try hitting the Media button then BT button? If you have a CD or SD in the car it might default to them if they were used last instead of automatically switching you to BT.
Just ideas.

Note, this is from memory and I don't use these options frequently, but I think when I hit the media button there is no BT option unless the music is actually playing. If I start the music, I think BT replaces MDI. I think that's essentially the same thing that happens if I use the AUX port. As I remember, AUX replaces the MDI input.

I've just briefly messed with mine so I'm no expert but one time I was watching a video on my phone and I noticed the sound DIDN'T play thru the car(the first time it did it scared the crap out of me because I had no idea it would do that when connected by BT) but the time I wanted it to it didn't. I hit the media button and switched it over to BT from CD and it played fine then.

Play music from phone. Then the unit will reconize that and then it will show that the bluetooth is available and you can stream it. It took me a while to figure that out oo.

I will try playing music and attempting it. But as far as AUX and CD being default that's what happens, but it doesnt highlight the BT Audio button as if it were an option

That's what mine does, since day 1. I've never been able to get BT to be an option. We've gone thru an Evo 4G, Evo 3D, Note 2, and Galaxy S4. We use a cable to use AUX so we can stream thru our phone since BT doesn't work.

I had a 2010 JSW TDI with the touchscreen/bluetooth/nav. It was as mentioned I believe, hit media & it would just come through. My wife's phone, which wasn't paired, we would just use a male to male headphone jack cable & then use aux for the input.

2010, BT Module a 9W2 (light on over head console will light up when phone connected) or 9W7 I heard rumors of big issues with BT connectivity with the 9W2.

A lot of the 2010 sedans came with the 9w3. You'll need a 9w7 and two wires added to the harness to get stereo sound.

So if you have the module under the seat, and no light overhead on sunroof panel, you have the 9w7? If so, that's the one I have, and can never get BT audio to work as mentioned by smashed Ixnay
