My car has 37,000 miles on it and yesterday I need to merge into traffic, trying to go from 40 mph to 60 mph, and the car couldn't get out of its own way. I could run faster than this thing was accelerating.

This is a recent issue since the car was always extremely peppy and would often chirp tires at stop signs. I tried getting on it a few times on the back roads after this and it was the same result, it was SLOW. My wife even commented about a week ago how the car felt slow.

I already had the HPFP replaced about 7000 miles ago and am worried it is the same issue. Any one else have a sluggish TDI?

Sounds like another possible double failure. As finicky the pump is about fuel and failing, replacement with just another like pump is just as likely to fail as the first. Seems now that if you get hit with a hpfp failure the best option is car replacement, not fuel system.

Any MIL? CEL? Codes will be stored with the HPFP failures or anything that would cause limp mode. Time to pull codes!

Agreed. Time to find someone with VCDS to read fault codes. It could be another HPFP problem - but it could also be caused by a host of other (more minor) problems. There is no way to know until you "ask" the car what went wrong. Good Luck!

Have Fun!

Here we go again...another "jump to HPFP failure" conclusion before even scanning for codes. Isn't it getting tiresome? There are at least a dozen faults that can cause power loss...everything from a clogged fuel filter (or air filter) to a loose vacuum hose, but the first thing everyone here jumps to is the worst case scenario.

Well I parked the car last week and only driven it to get appraised for the dealership to buy it back. They low balled me my payoff $16000 so I took it back home. I would love to get what KBB said trade in is worth, $19,000 for it. KBB said Private Party sale is over $21,000 but it is so hard to sell a car with a loan still on it.

No CEL MIL or any other lights. The dealership drove it and said it felt fine to them.
