tomo369, I did not have any choice, I bought the JSW that the dealer have configured and submitted to VW. Can the port installed mat and trunk liner be order via the dealer. or that the dealer is selling non OEM mat

and Cargo area liner 1K9-061-166-H-469 about 130 dollars

I'm not impressed with the dealer parts depts in Dallas. I've had to give them the part number when asking for a cargo liner and cargo barrier. Also, none seem to stock JSW accessories. On a good note, I did get my dealer's parts guy to internet price match on the roof base bars and the cargo liner, but he wouldn't honor the parts coupon I received when I purchased the wagon. He said I was already getting more than the coupon:( There was a cargo barrier in his future, but I've decided I'll order it from vwdiscountparts and pay shipping. Too bad...

2010 JSW Option Questions

All,
My first post, but I've been lurking for awhile. I should be taking delivery on my 2010 JSW (black/cornsilk, pano, nav, mats, rear airbags) in a week or so, and I can't wait.
When I ordered the car back in July, I gave the salesman the print out of my internet build list for the 2009 JSW to use for ordering my 2010. In addition to the options above, my build list included a front valance, side skirts, rear valance and fog lights. I gave the dealer a higher deposit due to these dealer-installed options. With the new redesign, however, these options are not available, and I'm not even sure I would like the look of the front valance with the MKVI front.
My questions are:
- am I correct in assuming these additional options are not available thru the dealer?
- opinions about these additional skirting options with the new MKVI front
- What is a clear bra? Is it really clear? Is it, as I assume, a coating that protects the front end from chips and dings due to road debris?

Thanks, all

I will post photos as soon as I take delivery:D

Fog light aren't available as a kit through VW probably for about 6 months........The Votex body parts should be available they are VW Accessories
A clear Bra is clear plastic cut and placed in strategic areas on the front of the car........

I wish I could see a photo of the valance/skirts on a 2010 before I decide. Any chance anyone has them installed already?

Also, is the clear bra for protection purposes?

I don't think VW has the kit for the '10 available yet. It's frustrating because in the brochures almost all of the cars have the "sport body kit" installed. Yet my dealer knew nothing about them. Normally, they are installed at the port before delivery.

I have a Clear Bra on my Lexus IS 350 and it protects against most small road debris. It's 4 years old now and is still practically invisible. Expensive, but worth it if you value your paint job and drive mostly busy freeways as I do.

I had the "clear bra" installed at the dealer's before I took delivery. It's done by an outside vendor, one who does window tinting in my case, and I think is well worth it. It's a 3M product and I believe is polyurethane. Cost $850. After a few days you forget it's there.

think about a car bra, we have all seen them they are big black covers on the front of a car.
Clear bra looks like that but it is clear and almost invisible. They Protect the leading edge of your vehicle from damage caused by rocks, gravel, or insects through the application of a virtually invisible film on your vehicle's paint and headlights.

it is a 3M film that is 8mil (that .008") thick, once stuck to the car it is almost impossible to chip or scratch the paint. (it goes on just like window tint)

Thanks for all the help, everyone. I am definitely going to have a clear bra installed.
Hopefully, someone who has installed the sport body kit will post some photos so I can see how it looks on the 2010 JSW.
Thanks,

Thanks,
If you can get your hands on a VW brochure for the '10 Jetta most of the cars pictured (including SportWagens) will have the sport body kit on them. Of course, since it makes them look more attractive. It may be awhile before they are available for sale though.

$850? Yikes! Did you have a huge area covered? The guy who did my car does work for many local dealers and only charges $300 to do the whole front bumper. Hood and front fenders is only $150 direct through him, $300 if you buy it through the dealer.

My Lexus IS350 has the full kit...bumper, fenders, full hood (about 1/2 of the hood area), headlights, side mirrors and it cost $600 four years ago. The front ends of my previous cars were heavily pitted and chipped after four years of mostly high speed freeway driving in heavy traffic. I couldn't bear to see the beautiful metallic red paint on my Lexus damaged in that manner and the Clear Bra worked wonders...and still looks good.

Adding OEM Backup Camera

Now that you have all kindly answered my questions about the body kit and clear bra, here's another.
When I ordered the car, I was really disappointed that a rear backup camera was not an available option. With both kids and dogs, I really think this is essential.
I read on myturbodiesel that a rear backup camera is available as an OEM part in conjunction with my RNS510 nav system.
Anyone know anything about this? Is this something I can have the dealer install?
Thanks!

I'm still envious of the US offerings. On the Canadian highline the only option we have is transmission type and colour. No HIDs, navi, etc.... I'm wondering what HID options will come out in future for retrofitting since the A5 stuff won't work.

Fred,
There is no HID option on the Jetta Sportwagen in the US........However they are an option on the USA Golf TDI :( The Golf lights will go into the the Golf Wagon.......I am sure someone will have a kit soon!
I am Mad that Fog Lights aren't an option on the USA Sportwagen........
However I now have all the part #s and will install them shortly after picking up my new baby!!

Opps, your right, I must have confused the two "Golfs":). Fog lights are standard on the Highline here as is black leather, so I guess there are still some good points. Red is not an exterior colour option nor is a light colour leather....

there are the OEM HID fixtures available, www.oemplus.com has them. Kufatec has a the autoleveling retrofit kit, but not on the Kufatec USA site.

but for $3500+ I am not sure why they are a $700 option from the factory.
