2010 Sportwagen options ?

My husband and I are fully committed to purchasing a 2010 jetta sportwagen, it is the perfect vehicle for us, although we have yet to put a deposit down because we wanted some clarification on options. Anyways, I got my hands on the official brochure today and now I'm more confused. I've been using information from here and this site : http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q_how_to/a5/09_10_TDIdifferences.htm.

However, the 2010 brochure lists a few things that don't jive. The 2010 says all air bags are standard. I was expecting to have to pay extra for the optional rear side airbags (In 2009, this was an extra $350). Also, the brochure says it has "voice-controlled Bluetooth Hands-Free Calling system with voice control" which sounds more like 9W3 system than the predicted 9W2?

Can anyone who has actually seen a 2010 clarify these two issues? Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

I didn't find the brochure very helpful. I'd go to a dealer and sit down and go over all available options that they've got on their sales sheets (or whatever they're called.) When we ordered ours (picking up 9/25) we didn't opt for rear side air bags. I'm not sure what the 9W3 vs 9W2 systems are that you've mentioned.

I would recommend contacting member 3193. He's a very knowledgable salesperson in PA that will help you out. He's also known for "hooking us up" pretty well as far as pricing goes. He'll be able to tell you what's out there for inventory as well.
Good luck with your new (soon I hope) TDI

Thanks for the suggestions, and the link! I've been looking for an official document detailing the pricing for months!

We are really excited about this car, even though we probably won't get our hands on it until next year at this point.

It's the only vehicle out there in our price range that will fit all three of our 50+ lb dogs and doesn't feel like we're driving a bus.

I don't know why the dealers are omitting the prices for the JSW. It's not a secret anymore.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/...0.pdf Click on the yellow box. It's all there. Even invoice.
By yellow box do you mean the "learn more" box. When I click on your link, is says "Invalid File. This error has been forwarded to MediaFire's development team."

I would love to have this .pdf too. I'm awaiting my 2010 JSW, but have not yet settled on a price with the dealer. This would be very helpful. If anyone could email me this file it would be very much appreciated. Boy, my first post and I'm already asking for something!

Cheers

Thanks Jeff. The retail price for my car as ordered is $30509. The invoice price is $28567. What do you all think would be a reasonable offer? The dealer is not adding a "market adjustment".

This is a great forum BTW.

There are a lot of dealers selling at msrp. I haven't heard anyone say they got one for under that yet. Too few jsw's and too many people looking to buy. I think the situation is different on the sedans.

chitty, why does it saw that the ipod integration kit is not recommended?
Is this the lower-lever connector, and not the MDI? (I could understand that.)

Does anyone know if the Navigation system comes with MDI, or if that's something that must be ordered separately? Maybe it's port installed?

I as because I want the MDI and want to make sure I'm not charged twice to get it if I get the Navi system.

the RNS-510 and RCD Touch screen radio have the MDI, as upgrading to the NAVI does not delete the MDI feature, I believe it is in the arm rest.
For the TDI Golf

On the JSW it is an option, with the RNS NAV system, like the Radio and dynaudio being an add-on option on the golf.

Can MDI be added by the dealer

Hi, I've noticed some of the 2010 JSW launch cars do not have MDI. Is this an easy dealer addition or something I can install myself?

A 2010 sedan owner asked the dealer the same question, and I believe the dealer said it was virtually impossible, but YMMV.

Looking at my MDI connection, it'd be a rather intensive install, i'd imagine the entire console would need to be removed and the wiring pulled up through.

There's a retrofit kit that puts the cable in the glovebox that is supposed to be easier to install. It's mentioned about 2/3's of the way down this page:

So what do you get in the console if you don't have the MDI-ipod option? I didn't order the option for my 2010 TDI JSW because the only MDI option is for ipod, and I just want the USB one. I thought, perhaps mistakenly, that the "standard" was a USB interface.

In '09 you got the USB cable with the MDI standard, and the iPod cable was about 70 bucks, give or take.

I believe in '10 they switched this around. Nobody over on this side of the pond wants to copy their music onto a USB stick, however iPod/iPhones are everywhere.

You can probably order the USB cable from the parts department for about the same price.

Interesting, so in the '09, you had a USB jack standard, or did you need to order the nav to get it? I'd much rather use a USB stick than a ipod, cheaper, and its not Apple ;)

Got my TDI JSW

All,
Thanks a million to all the people who contribute to this great forum. I've been lurking for nearly a year and finally got an '10 JSW TDI this weekend. Fully loaded including Nav - didn't really need that option but tired of waiting. Paid MSRP.

Based on all the feedback here, I checked the oil level first thing and asked the dealer not to fill the tank!

If you don't buy it as a port installed option you have to buy the components individually from VWandit is more expensive........
