:)

In order to get such high F E , you must have lubed up the
muffler bearings with some pretty good slippery grease also. ;)

I'm on my third tank of go juice in my '10 JSW, I started out at about 39 commuting to work 30 mi. each way, half stop and go (Construction), half 60-70 mph, all freeway. I still have yet to take the car over 80 while it's in the break in period.
The second tank netted around 43.5 overall calculated by hand and so far my computer is telling me about the same, 43.2 running average.
My freeway average to work has been exceptional, it started out around 43 and I had three days where I got 45.2, 48.5 and 52.3 by the time I hit my parking lot. I really enjoyed rubbing a few individuals noses in that...:D
The trips home have been a couple points lower becasue of weather and some pretty consistent winds that have been blowing this fall.
I've been seeing better than the published numbers and hoping that it will tick up a few by the 10,000mi mark.
It was hard to let our '04 Jetta sedan go with its average of 48+ consistently, but the numbers we're getting make it not hurt so much...

i can give an update...ended up driving a bungload of HWY miles this weekend and my MFD calculates that i can now hit 530 miles on the tank...i suppose most of my initial driving was city (but there was some HWY), but for some reason it looked like it would be a low tank..i'm feeling a lot better about mileage on larger wheels now that i put on some good HWY miles

That sounds promising. I'm still leaning towards 18" if I can't find someone with 17" Portos that they want to trade for my Biolines.

Could you post some pics? Wondering how the wheel well gap looks with those 18s of yours. I'm considering Eibach Pro-Streets if the look is too 4x4.

Picked up my 2010 JWS TDI last week and just finished my first tank. Got 557 miles but was stretching it as that the Low Level light was on and the readout said 25 mile left. At fill up the tank took 13.6 gallons so basicly we got 40.9mpg

Sinfony, those wheels look great. What series tires? Also, what percentage tint do you have on the windows? Beautiful car, great color choice.;)

thanks...i originally wanted the laser blue, but the more i look at this color, the more i like it

i got bridgestones 225/40/18 - they ride as quiet as my 16s
tint is 30%, altho in hindsight i do want it a little bit darker, but i think 30% in front is legal limit here in houston

i def. need to drop it soon tho, it looks a little too subaru-y

i will have some much better pictures...i never get home when there's good lighting out, so my pictures look like crap

I just drove up to Niagara Falls, doing 75-80. I started with about 400 miles on the car, so it's far from broken in, and I did play around a little. I made a few stops and got stuck in a little traffic, but other than that it was smooth sailing.
Mileage is about 41 mpg.
I can't wait for it to break in, and I really need to check the tire pressures, since I haven't yet, and like to run a little higher than spec.
I really have to get used to the way the fuel gauge works on this car, as I got very spoiled by the Passat. I'm at half tank already, and it's not even 350 miles yet! I would have at least 2/3 tank in the Passat.

First fill up

I only got 32 MPG from my first tank. This includes several 75% power applications, city, highway and a "spirited" tour through San Diegos beautiful mountains. ;)

That is exactly what I got with similar driving. Put a little over 11 gals in on the first one.

2010 JSW - At around 2500 miles, the MFI is consistently reading 48-50+ MPG for trips of 65 miles.... mostly highway. 60-62 mph.

I am at 550 miles and still have a ways to go before the light comes on. I can easily make 600 miles on the tank.

Here's my per tank MPGs so far, taken on a cross country drive from Langhorne PA (thanks Chris!) to the Portland Metro Area:
43.9
39.2
37.5
39.5

The later tanks had higher avg. speeds due to higher speed limits across the mid-west, so mileage was lower. Didn't include the first tank, as I'm not sure how much diesel the car had in it when it got to the dealer, and Chris had filled up the car before I picked it up as well. Less than 6 tanks to go coast to coast, gotta love that!

I have to do the calculations yet, but on my trip to and from Niagara Falls I got over 40 mpg. The display was reading 44 mpg for a while (I slowed down a little, to the rest of traffic), but was reading about 41 when I was driving 75-80. I still have to get over the difference from my Passat, I would have made the trip on one tank in that car.

New JSW DSG mileage report

Only 300 miles on the odometer so far but the mpg is already exceeding my expectations. I've been trying not to baby it and haven't used the cruise control yet but this morning my 30 mile commute - mostly freeway with some heavy traffic - returned 50.1 on the trip computer. I've always been able to at least match the highway mileage rating for my vehicles but 50 mpg is even better than I had hoped. First tank average is hovering around 37 but that's not surprising with my frequent use of the sport mode on the DSG. Admitedly, I did take it easier on this commute and kept it under 70 mph. I'm sure the mileage will drop a bit after next week when I trade out the narrow 16" stock tires for wider 18" tires and wheels. I'll post an update after the swap.
