Saw this on myturbodiesel.com. Any new owner confirm?

Bluetooth with voice control is now standard in the US. This is the 9w3 bluetooth with voice control, phone book, and outgoing call. (not yet 100% confirmed but pretty sure).

Hey, I'm not a newbie anymore! Does this mean I'm exempt from asking dumb questions and making dumb statements???

Why not ask on my site too since I wrote it? I noticed you also cut/paste a big section from my tax credit article, thank you for the referencing the source. If you like my content, feel free to contribute to my site to help it grow.

Only if you read the whole article before asking questions that are answered in it.

The sedans should have it. The wagons are starting to show up and I'm hearing that they do infact have 9w2. That's in the USA. Canada wagons didn't have it on the spec sheet but someone already took delivery in Canada and they do have bluetooth, not 100% sure what type.

My 2010 JSW is indeed 9w2. No voice controls, no voice menu in the MFD :(

I wonder what it would take to take what's in the '10 sedan and put it in the wagon... I really would like voice control.

I've got a 2010 JSW with no phone menu in the MFD or on the RNS 510. There is a phone button on the RNS 510... I also wonder if it is easy to upgrade to 9w3.

The bluetooth is the one thing that I'm not too happy with in this car(2010 JSW).

It's voice quality seems to be subpar for the person on the other end of the line. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard people say "Sorry, can't understand you". I've tried whispering through yelling, but seems to make little difference.

I like the microphone button on the steering wheel that mutes the stereo... I had this crazy notion it was a button to voice dial... :p

Even though there's no voice menu, etc. at least it works well enough to use.. and the Bluetooth Audio to the Premium 8 radio works well. I was happy to find out the little navigation app I'm using on the iPhone does its voice stuff over Bluetooth, too, so getting turn-by-turn directions through the car's speakers is a nice-to-have :)

I spent a couple of hours at the dealership on delivery day trying to (following the brand new manual) to get my cell phone's phonebook to transfer to the car and for me to be able to voice initiate a call. Every available salesperson took a shot- but to no avail. No one understood what version of Bluetooth had shipped in our wagons-"It's just too new...."
I've discovered, on my own, that if I push the (external) voice command button on my cell phone that the car will 'take over' the call and that all voice commands, from the prompts from the phone to me and my responses to my phone, ARE handled through the car's microphone and speakers. I don't have to take my phone out of the belt holster, or hand dial anything. I just press the button and the car takes over. It certainly isn't the functionality I expected, and why the most expensive Jetta doesn't have the best BT is beyond me. I guess it is just like previous years where the sedan had the MFSW and the wagon didn't. This year we get the MFSW (and a beauty it is!) but we get bluetooth low instead of high like the '10 sedans.
So, while I will continue to watch here and esp. on vwvortex.com, to see how our JSW TDI's can be 'upgraded' from 9W2 to 9W3, it actually works pretty well.

Good info. I created this thread by mistake, and wish it would die everytime I see a response to it, but maybe I learned something after all. I'll try it, thanks.

That is great info. I actually totally forgot about voice control on my iphone. Never used it before, but just gave it a shot. It worked great and now I have all the functionality that I need. Thanks for the slap in the head. :)
