I spent a couple of hours at the dealership on delivery day trying to (following the brand new manual) to get my cell phone's phonebook to transfer to the car and for me to be able to voice initiate a call. Every available salesperson took a shot- but to no avail. No one understood what version of Bluetooth had shipped in our wagons-"It's just too new...."
I've discovered, on my own, that if I push the (external) voice command button on my cell phone that the car will 'take over' the call and that all voice commands, from the prompts from the phone to me and my responses to my phone, ARE handled through the car's microphone and speakers. I don't have to take my phone out of the belt holster, or hand dial anything. I just press the button and the car takes over. It certainly isn't the functionality I expected, and why the most expensive Jetta doesn't have the best BT is beyond me. I guess it is just like previous years where the sedan had the MFSW and the wagon didn't. This year we get the MFSW (and a beauty it is!) but we get bluetooth low instead of high like the '10 sedans.
So, while I will continue to watch here and esp. on vwvortex.com, to see how our JSW TDI's can be 'upgraded' from 9W2 to 9W3, it actually works pretty well.
