2010 Golf TDI - Less honking possible?

I stopped by the dealer today and asked them to turn off the chirping I get from using the remote to lock my doors. I think this used to be user-configurable, but it isn't anymore. After about 20 minutes they came back and told me it was no longer possible according to "VW Tech Support".
Does this seem plausible to you guys? Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of the hw/sw that dealerships use for this sort of thing? My gut feeling is that they couldn't immediately figure it out and they gave up and told me it's impossible. Now I don't know what to do. I hate that stupid honking.
BTW, I know about VAG COM, but I'd like to avoid "unofficial" software tweaks while under warranty.

It's in the MFD. Called "ATA Confirm" uncheck the box ,and it will just blink the lights, when it locks

Nope. That seems to be how it works on other models, but not on this car.

That's the beauty of Ross Tech's product..........by default it simply replaces the "last updater" with the same ID = no warranty issues. It also doesn't do truly damaging mods, those that can cause issues are clearly labled & easy to avoid.

I kept the chirps, but first order of business was to enable windows up/down & sunroof close with the remote. It's been to the dealer, they have never said a word.............it shows the last update ID as the dealer. :)

I really wish I could turn the chirp off too. It's obnoxious and everyone looks at you like a jackass.

You have it so that the windows and sunroof close with the remote? That is cool!

How do you use the remote to operate them?

First you have to enable it with Vag-Com (VCDS) then:

press unlock once - driver's door unlocks
press unlock twice - all doors unlock
Press and hold unlock - all the windows go down

press lock once - everything locks
press and hold lock - doors lock, windows go up, sunroof closes (very handy)

Have Fun!

Will a dealer do this kind of thing?

(And, more specifically: Anybody have any experience with Livingston VW in Woodland Hills, CA doing this kind of thing?)

No. Most dealers don't even know how to do this kind of thing and even if they did, they have no idea how to charge you for it. The diagnostic computers that VW dealers have don't know how to do this. VCDS can do many things that VW dealers have never even thought of. You must find someone who has VCDS (Vag-Com). I'm sure that there is someone in your area who has VCDS who will help you. This post might be helpful:

If this doesn't work, I would post a message in the West coast area of this site and just ask if there is anybody with VCDS who will help you.

Good Luck

Unchecking the ATA confirm box stopped the horn chirp when locking on my 2010 JSW. Easy.
