Hi guys,
I really want help from you.
I live in California,
I took my car for smog check and failed because about protocol id.
I have 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI diesel, they saying this car require CAN bus system instead kwp2000. and my car failed smog check because of that
different protocol id.
My question for you guys, How does the protocol id change during testing ? maybe ECU computer defective ? some people told me that OBD2 talking
with different module from ECU ?

My friend got some scan tool and I couldn't download pics. But it saying;

Protocol: KWPS8FE9
ECU Address(es): 1A
MIL Indicator: MIL OFF

Engine Max RPM: 834
Engine Min: 826
Engine RPM: 832

CAL ID: 02F300050D 1402
CAL CVN: 21DB
Bus Voltage: 13.50
PID Count(s): 9
DTC Count from Mode $01: 0
Consolidated Readiness: UUCUUUUURUUU
Supported Readiness: UUSUUUUURUUU

OBDII Readiness Monitor Details:
Misfire Monitor Supported: N
Fuel System Monitoring Supported: N
Component Monitor Supported: Y
Catalyst Monitor Supported: N
Heated Catalyst Supported: N
EVAP System Supported: N
Miss Monitor Ready: NS
Fuel System Monitor Ready: NS
Component Monitor Ready: NS
Catalyst Monitor Ready: NS
Heated Catalyst Monitor Ready: NS
EVAP Monitor Ready: NS

If you look at those monitors not supported and that's why protocol id not matching instead CAN bus system.

Any help would be appreciated
