-$1300 under sticker (Finance guy was amazed)

Any problems? Short term loss of HD radio reception. Ipod connection with NEW ipods requires unplugging and re-plugging the ipod in to work correctly.
I am getting around 26 MPG (CITY).

-Sedan or Wagon: Sedan
-Manual or DSG: Manual 6
-When delivered : early october
-Price paid relative to MSRP: MSRP
-Current miles: 5,500 miles
-Any problems? Fixed? Not? Occasional "bump hesitation" others have mentioned. It's happened maybe a dozen times. I suspect a software issue.
-Fuel consumption data: MFC says 38mpg with about 80% hwy with the cruise set at 75mph
-Fav/least Fav features: Stereo wins both awards for this one since i love the Sat and the ease of use. Sound quality is rather poor.

-Any problems? Fixed? Not? Sunroof did not open once -- controls didn't work until I turned off the ignition and started the car again. Hasn't happened again.

-Averaging 36mpg every fill up. Have seen better numbers on the trip computer but haven't beat the 36 for the whole tank ... yet. Lots of heavy traffic metro area driving.

This is my 5th VW and 4th TDI. LOVE the sunroof and the stereo is very good compared to the Beetle's Monsoon system. Only regrets are not waiting to get beige interior and GPS. Oh well.

-$500 over MSRP, still in the wrapper
-10,000

-First oil change was done at 6300 miles. I sent off the sample to Blackstone and will edit this post with the report. Then got my 10K carefree service (@ 9640K) done at West Houston VW. They actually used the right oil & filter, vacuum, wash, interior wipe down and tire rotation. I did not catch a sample for analysis. The service manager recommended that I change the oil again @ 15K, 20K, then start on the 10K OCI with 507 00 and OEM long life filters.

Car was realigned at ~6554 miles. That was an out-of-pocket expense for me as alignments are not covered by the warranty. Car drives fine now.

I try to follow DBW's break in advice and use 4 to 5 oz of PS (gray bottle) at every fillup. I also fill up excusively at Valero over by my house. I see at least one diesel truck there when I go for fuel, beer, etc. No problems with fuel quality so far.

-Started off at 36 MPG for the first 500 mles. Increased to an average 41 MPG till two round trips to Oklahoma and Fort Worth after which the odo read about 7000 miles. Now I'm at 10K and averaging about 40 city/45 hwy. 45 on the highway when I'm commuting to/from work. 40 mostly around town driving in December.

Paid MSRP minus $500 (searched on auto trader for about a month before I found one available)

current miles: about 1500

Problems - slight rattle on pano roof, front dash (on rough roads)

Fuel consumption data - 39mpg long term average

Is PS (gray bottle) compatible with DPFs? I know it's compatible with ULSD, but that means nothing if it's not also low-ash and hence, DPF-compatible.

Okay, gray bottle's official name is DIESEL KLEEN + Cetane Boost with SLICKDIESEL. That's alot marketing in a name, no?

On the back of gray bottle it says "Use of DieselKleen will not harm diesel oxidation catalysts or diesel particulate filters on 2007 or newer engines.

So it does say it's DPF-friendly, but nothing about ash content.

Bought off Dealers lot Oct/28/2008. Had 40 miles on the odometer (must have been a demo).
Had Dealer markup $2k - Paid MSRP ($25,989)
Current miles - 1835
No problems, everything works and fits perfectly.
Gets 34mpg average around town. On a few highway trips got 44mpg.
Our first VW and first Diesel. Love this car and its cool features.
Hope someone in the TDI Club can recommend a Dealer in Southern CA (LA or Orange County) to do any necessary warranty work and the free oil/filter changes.
Will look for an independent repair shop for work after that.

-Price paid [no not include taxes and fees - just the car] relative to MSRP: MSRP - $1350 and no doc fees. Just $21,500 plus tax and title.

-Current miles: 150

-Any problems? Fixed? Not? Tell us the story: 1.) Headrests are awful. The lack of adjustment and the direction they are pointing is terrible. 2.) Speedometer is around 2% slower than the Garmin GPS shows, but almost dead-on from 0-30 mph. The wifes 2007 Jetta shows around 8% faster than you are really going. Both odometers read the same, though. This is common with these cars I guess, but it really threw me for a loop. Actually, this is a plus for the 2009; they seems to have corrected an age-old problem. 3.) Clutch is also ultra sensitive. It's easy to kill it during normal drives, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

-Fuel consumption data: Display is showing 39.5 mpg, and that's with all the shifting around and city testing.

Haven't had very long, but computer says overall average is 36, mix of city and highway. My daily 55 mile round trip commute comes out at 40 mpg.
I love this car!

-Any problems? Fixed? Not? Tell us the story - This has been a completely trouble free vehicle. I've had none of the issues others report. Headlight aim is excellent too. On a 300 mile trip, I got 47 mpg at 60 mph (70 degrees outside). Kept my Iphone charged from the 120 V outlet. I noticed my first regen today. I don't know how often it happens, but this is the first one I noticed.

I've decided to try a different approach with this thread - PLEASE, ONLY current owners of the new 09 TDIs, list as much of the following as you can:

-Wagon
-DSG
-delivered December 4, 09
-Paid MSRP but got mudflaps, window tint and 3m rockguard included.
-Current miles 3100 miles
-Any problems?
The screws the dealer used to affix the license plate went through the plastic plate mount and scratched through the paint on the back door. Had to wait until my salesperson was in and talk to him to get touch up paint.
Got a rock chip on the chrome grill which caused 4 inches of chrome to bubble up. New grill ordered.
Pano roof is very creaky when driving over bumps on the highway and city streets, may be caused by the cold weather.
Window in back hatch leaks at the top, water runs down the inside of the window at the carwash.

-Fuel consumption data: averaging 32ish mpg's (US) even on the highway. Cold and snowy here, but was expecting better than that. Somewhat disappointed in the milage.

Headlights: I frequently get flashed for having my highbeams on when they are not.

The order process was a nightmare. My order was switched into the name of another customer and it was changed to a comfortline from highline. Was called to say the car had arrived... wrong transmission. A few other problems, felt like i was being thrown around in the wash. Then, survey time comes and I'm told how important it is to give them 10's and nothing less... Anything less than 10 isn't good enough.

I do love the car (save the lousy mpg's) but am not sure i could buy another car from VW.

Just noticed that there is condensation in the right rear taillamp.. Will be taking that back in because this should be a sealed lamp correct?

You got an awesome deal. I'm sure some 09 owners are not happy after reading that.

You guessed right, there should be no condensation in the lamp. Take her in to get fixed.

Awesome! How far below MSRP does that make your purchase? Do you have the MSRP and the price paid?

-Sedan - Laser Blue Metalic

-Manual transmission - Very smooth shifting, glad I got this vs DSG (DSG on my GTI is nice, but Manual is so much more fun!)

-Delivered 12/19/2008

-Paid MSRP $24,990 - includes Destination ($650) plus 2 options: Sunroof ($1000) & 17" Vision Wheels (JBT - $1350)

-257 miles

-One problem already: Annoying rattle coming from passenger side dash:mad:! Will have to bring it in to see if the service guys can find it.

-MDF showing 31 mpg, 90% city, have not used 6th gear yet! Will post milage on appropriate threads once I've used 2-3 tanks of fuel.

Overall very happy with the TDI, my son is even happier - he now gets the GTI all to himself!

Price paid: MSRP (26,225 $Cdn for Trendline + ESP)
Current miles: 960 km
Problems? Not really. Great car. I was concerned however that the fan came on after shut-off following a short trip (10 km) to town and back, even though the temperature gauge showed moderate (90 deg. C) reading, and the engine-fault light came on. After a minute, I tried restarting the engine and this cleared the warning light and the fan turned off. Perhaps the car had initiated a regen cycle. Something to monitor.
Mileage: must wait for first fill-up to be sure, but appears to be approaching 5l/100 km (47 mpg) so far.

I have had this problem since I picked the car up but I'm not ready to take it to the dealer yet. I thought I had found the cause when I read here about a bolt and washer on the passenger side that was often left loose from the factory on '06s. I checked it, though, and no joy -- it was tight.

I hear the rattle most between 2100 and 2300rpm. I'll try to get a friend to help me locate this and I'll report back if I find anything.

Please report back if you or your dealer find a solution.
