2009 Jetta 6 spd manual purchased at the end of March, 2010. 50k+ miles. Not seen the inside of a dealership for any reason - none - nix - nada. Do all of my own service, and very careful where I buy fuel. Brakes and tires still good, but I'm beginning to worry about the rubber. Only problem is the back seat latch broke on one side.

09 Jetta TDI Sedan Automatic 85117 miles purchased March 1, 2012. March 2, 2012 CEL came on with code P0401. Dealer says it need all new DPF at a cost of $4638. I took to a recommended TDI mechanic and he had for over 2 weeks swapping out parts with perfect running 09. He never could isolate the problem but has a hard time believing that it would require that big of fix since car runs well and has no loss of fuel economy (average tank 42mpg). He did charge me anything because he was wanting an answer since his own 2010 has same issue and he didn't spend anything on mine but time. He said this is becoming an issue with the common rail since they are now starting to see mileage on them. He will keep me informed if a fix is discovered that won't cost $4600.

I have an 09 Jetta 6 speed manual TDI purchased in January 2009. The vehicle currently has 50,600 miles. The first 50,000 were nearly problem free. The main problem was having the dealer preform correct oil changes. Recently I have had multiple problems. Drivers side axel boot replaced. The exhaust flap was replaced. This repair was covered by V.W. The auxiliary cooling fan was replaced, and the exhaust pressure sensor was also replaced. I am on my second set of brake pads, and just had the third set of tires installed.

Had to replace both rear door latch assemblies. Problems with front passenger assembly as well. Experiencing problems with standard radio cd hardware. Gas cap lock failure resulting in non-locking cap.

Inbnd/Outbnd chicago 30 mi commute usually average 50-60mpg. Often use medium sized roof box at 70-75 mph, average 35 to 38 mpg. No box at 70 mph is around 45mpg.

Probably the first one in SoCal. Around 8-20-08

Graphite blue Wagon with premium sound and better than average looking wheels.
Paid MSRP. Wouldn't bargain. Traded 06 TDI with 60k with $19k trade in. After appraisal I put dent under door. Woops. Unnoticed.
177k miles.

Third set of tires. Third set of rear brakes. 2nd windshield. 2nd HPFP. replaced under warranty with a nice loaner @ 102K miles. Turbo brass bearing let go at 105k miles. No warranty. Replaced with low mileage used one at F1 in Long Beach. All for around $1500. Now I change oil at 8k instead of 14k. Only use B5 for the pump now. DPF code for the last year. Went away last month. 2015 code replaced the first of two sensors, stayed and used that sensor for the first one and the new one for the second. Code went away but month later returned. Went into limp mode last month. Needed a new turbo actuator arm. Several adjustments needed. Lock tight with kit didn't work well. Bent the arm to keep the nuts from loosening. Works fine now. Plasti coated the wheels and the chrome black. After market sport struts and shocks.
2nd belt, replaced water pump, pulleys and hosed at about 135k miles.
AM radio never worked and still doesn't. Driver side visor broke at the base when I closed it too hard (hate tail gaiters). Drink holder in between the seats in the back broke. Cigarette lighter burns out fuses frequently. Assorted parking lot door dings both sides (why no protective strip)? Loose front air dam damage fixed with drywall screws when misjudged turning radius. Hawaiian hang loose sticker on limo tint rear window to keep tail gaiters off me (I drive spirited but always safe).

40 mpg with air on. passenger Daewoo engine at 80 mph Sacramento to LA. Now anywhere 44-36 depending on altitude, speed, geography and traffic.

2nd dealer offered me peanuts for trade in for 2015 upgraded TDI. Paid off. Do not want payments again , anyhow.

2009 Sportwagen with DSG. At 120,000 miles installed new OEM read pads and rotors and Koni FSD shocks (rear) and struts (front). LOVE the suspension! Original front pads at 6mm at 140,000 miles. 7/32" left on 225/45x17 MXV4 tires after 60,000 miles. DPF replaced under warranty. I really like the JSW. I figure that it's about halfway through its tenure. I've used the dealership for almost all of its maintenance. It's averaged just over 38 MPG overall - about 41 MPG at 70 MPH on the highway and 36 MPG around town.

Update:
Sedan or Wagon - Sedan
-Manual or DSG - Manual
-When delivered - Feb 2010
-Current miles - 162,000
-Any problems? Fixed? Not? Tell us the story. Intercooler drain, fixed under warranty. Rusted hood to be replaced under warranty. Just did the P2015 fix from Diesel Geek vs. buying a new intake manifold :D!! I did a "chromeectomy" and replaced the front with something more appropriate and added fogs. Have not hooked up the latter yet because I have to buy a Euro-switch.
-Fuel consumption data - I have hit 50 on a number of occasions. New job = a lot less traveling and around town it is high 30s low 40s.

As an aside, there are a lot of VWs in Maine, and supposedly a lot of TDIs. However, most of the local shops who specialize in German marques don't seem to work on them. I have called Herm Pasker and he is not taking on any more "common rail" customers.

We have an '09 Sedan with DSG. We were early adopters. Waited for it to come in on a list and paid MSRP.

We have ~22k miles on it with no problems. We were averaging around 38 MPG (calculated, I keep a spreadsheet) for the first 10k miles or so. Since then it has fairly consistently been over 40 MPG.

We're two oil changes and a couple of road trips in now and I'm really happy with the car for what it is. There are features that I wish it had, and I'm not really comfortable with the DSG for the long haul (wife's car), but I don't regret the purchase.
Good time to update this.

Since this post, I bought a new 2010 Golf with a six speed. I had that for a couple years and sold it after I bought my M3. The Golf was awesome. Though I hit a deer with it on the way to show it to some people shopping. They liked it so much that they waited for it to get repaired and still bought it.

We still have the '09 Jetta. It has just over 125k miles on it now. It's starting to get a bit rough. I was about to sell it when the TDI scandal hit and now it just sits 99% of the time. My wife broke one mirror backing out of the garage and the other corroded off at the joint (I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it). It has a CEL on for "high exhaust back pressure" and the brakes (original) are at the _very_ end of their life. It's also overdue for a timing belt.

I'm deferring all of that maintenance until the settlement is formally announced, because I'm not putting any money into it if VW is just going to buy it back. It was a good car, but we've been done with it for a long time now and it is taking up a valuable parking space.

bought 2012 with 79K miles.
Now at 170K.
Had the fix done in sept or so.
The mileage seemed to drop about 1-2 mpg. The wife doesn't keep track like I do. Running 36 or so mixed driving and about 38-39 on the road loaded up.
We've replaced the timing belts and had the flap fixed. Brake pads replaced once and no other issues really. We've been really happy with it. Just bought a 2015 Golf TDi Sportwagen to replace my 2006 Jetta TDi sedan. Looking to run at least another 200K miles with it.
