Have a 2006 TDI Jetta was and it died and had to tow it home. The gear indicator is flashing, it cranks but will not start. I bought the cheap version of the tester and here are the results. I would like to reset it such that I start it and sell it. Any help is appreciated.
This is all I get on the autoscan. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

Did the fuse blow again when you replaced it ?
.. if yes then start tracing wires and see where it’s shorting.

There are just too many to list....
Yeah, you really are not giving us much to go on here. Clearly the Engine Controller, for whatever reason, is not powering up and/or communicating with the other modules. It lives up the cowl area, I'd take the wiper arms off and take the cowl cover out and investigate up in there for tree debris or rodent damage to the ECU's car side harness.

...if only someone would give you some sort of suggestion...

Sorry to ask, what are the conditions under which I check for this? ECU connected? unplugged? Key on?

If I disconnect the ECU and turn the key on I have no voltage at the B+ and GND. Wiring diagram?

Yes, best bet to get the diagram out and check all that basic stuff. Ground is constant, there's no switched grounds to the main leads to the ECU.

You may also want to pull the underhood fuse plate up and look under there for any signs of corrosion.

Found one, is a ECM the same as the ECU?
On the drawing is a DFI Engine Control Module is this it?
Is there a way to post pictures directly?

ECU/ECM/DFI is all the same thing. It is the controller that is for the engine, living up in the cowl. Has two connectors, one goes out to the engine itself, for all the things on the engine, and the other goes to the car side, and heads over and through the bulkhead area into under the dash.

Is that a legitimate Vcds ? Or a knock off…… it keeps asking to register/activate .

Yes it's a $10 item. Sorry I was out of town for a few days. I was afraid to rent one like from Ebay for fear of how long it might take to fix it. Open to suggestions.
