Looking to build my motor to the highest power under roughly $2,000 (minus a turbo I know those are expensive). What are the best cost effective mods I can do? Looking to throw people back in the seats lol.

well....you're not going to "build" any engine for $2k these days.
maybe if you're doing ALL the work.

my recommendation would be to get yourself a "stage 2" tune and a free flowing exhaust. are you going to install the exhaust yourself? if not, that'll probably take care of your $2k budget and will put smiles on faces of the persons in your car. should you be bitten by the bug at that point, the next steps would be to upgrade your IP, injectors and turbo. and then of course the corresponding tune to match those changes.

performance is a huge rabbit hole and unfortunately, your question can't be answered in a single reply post on this forum.

Why would an "upgraded" IP be needed?

The injectors that are stock on a bew (assuming thats what it is) can handle a lot more fuelling then the previous alh to my understanding so honestly I think for the wanted upped power I'd go this route (but to each his own).

Upgrade Clutch (if manual)
Straightpipe (for special effects). Can make your own for 100$ or less. just get rid of muffler and other *ahem* baffling.
Tune.

If a turbo is wanted do it before the tune, or if later decided its a want can be done and retune with something like a malone stage 4 or something else custom.

Make sure the rest of your car is in great running and functioning condition before adding lots of power as you will abuse the car more (because why buy power and not use it??)
Lil experience I have learned lol.... clicky axles leave you places if you don't fix them or keep your car in good functioning condition.

Ok I see where you were going. ALH finished in 03. thats ALH 10mm (manual) vs. Auto 11mm. PD is a different set up.
