So after almost a year of pestering my friend, I obtained this poor Golf.

Car says 2006 on the catalyst sticker but its actually an early 2005.

I want to find a Jetta Wagon gasser or TDI to swap this 1.9 w/5 speed manual into.

Are there any other VW cars that I could swap this drivetrain into?

206K on the odo and it fired up with a fresh battery after a year of sitting, and the fuel didn't smell bad.

I found a cheap 2000 Golf TDI automatic with a blown motor. Will this motor/manual trans bolt up?
And would the 2006 wire harness/ECM work when swapped over?

I have the perfect match for you but I live a long way from Florida. I have a 2004 BEW wagon that needs the whole drive train. The Wagon body is in real good shape.

There are just too many to list....
You'd need to change out a LOT of things to make the BEW work in an ALH car. But yes, with enough time and effort, and assuming the donor car's dash and underhood harnesses are undamaged, you could do it. It would be a lot easier on a car that was already a BEW, though.

FWIW, the 10th digit in the VIN will be the model year. Many 2006 model cars were built in late 2005, usually (but not always) August is the changeover month.

That wasn't a tree, almost like an I-beam but not even. What destroyed that poor car?
