I'm looking at replacement options for the whole axle - but the old one is a crappy rebuilt one - and don't want to replace it with crap.
I talked with Raxle today - they indicated that particular axle was only produced for 14 months - and without an original core to send back they aren't interested in sending me a rebuild original axle.
Any thoughts on where to get a decent replacement axle?? Would have to be without a core charge.... I don't mind spending a few hundred on an OE one - but trying to keep it around $300..

Find a part out on craigslist or wrecking yard and get a good used oe one. I think the 2.0 ones will fit as well, just need to make sure from the same trans auto/standard.

I did send out a request to wrecking yard....no reply yet. I understand that the OE is much preferred over the rebuilt crap.

If you have the OEM axle part number, get with Ryanp in the UK. He will most likely be able to help you with an OEM part and he can be found in the vendor section of this site. I just had him ship me a right and left axle for an 02M. I had it in 2 days. After installing one chinesium axle and watching it wear out in 20k miles, I would rather pay more and have something that will last. Then I had two worn out left axles but the shafts were good so Marty rebuilt them with new OE joints. Not cheap but first class.

Thanks all...
In some internet seeking frustration I finally called up my local foreign parts store and ordered up a left front axle - from IMPEX.

Here's the link if anyone is interested..

They also have the higher priced alternative but was a bit rich for my blood. This choice is more $$ than a NAPA or Advance Parts axle would go for so I hope it is a higher quality rebuild.
