Hi all, I have decided to list my car for sale. All details are below. I have sold my VW Caddy Diesel 5-spd on this site years ago and it was an awesome transaction and buyer was more than pleased after actually seeing it in person. Hoping for a similar experience again. The price I am listing it for was suggested by an active member.
2003 VW Jetta GL TDI Wagon
5-speed manual
172,XXX miles
Option: Heated seats. OEM VW Alloy Wheels (including a 5th rim)
MPG: 42 city / 50 highway
Horsepower: 90 hp @ 3,750 rpm
Engine: 1.9 L 4-cylinder Diesel
Curb weight: 3,122 lbs
Asking: $7,800
History:
This is a one-family owned Jetta 5-speed TDI Wagon! My uncle purchased it brand new when he was a Gold Meister Porsche technician at Porsche/Audi/VW in Cherry Hill. Of course, he was meticulous with the maintenance of this car and used only OEM parts. I acquired this from him at about 165k miles. Me being a mechanical engineer, I am also meticulous with my cars and continued to maintain it and used only OEM parts. I took it to iService Imports and asked them to replace anything and everything it needed. I have attached the invoice that lists the services performed ($2,176.79). Thereafter, I had installed new Goodyear tires and recently a new Interstate battery. After driving it daily 2-3 days of the week, I felt it needed a new clutch. Again, I brought it to iService Imports for a new OEM clutch & flywheel kit installation and asked them to replace anything else that it needed while in their shop. Invoice for this service also attached ($2,546.89). My uncle replaced the original timing belt at 100k miles, the car is now at 172k so could be due for another one soon. I also get it professionally detailed via home service every year or so.
In summary, this car needs absolutely nothing as is to start driving! Any repairs and maintenance have been performed using all OEM parts. The only non-OEM items I installed on this car are for aesthetics, such as the front grill, short stub antenna, and a Bluetooth radio. All the original parts are included except for radio. It will also come with the following:
(1) 5th Factory Alloy Rim
(4) OEM steel wheels with winter tires
(4) VW original keys.
All the original OEM parts including antenna, grille, paperwork, brochures, and catalogs!
I believe the front strut bar was installed by my uncle, might not be factory.
The car runs solid, straight, and smooth on the highway. Honestly, it drives and feels just as solid as my 2021.5 VW Atlas R-Line. I still get close to the 42 / 50 mpg rating between my daily commute from NJ to Center City Phila.
Note: Last month water did get into the footwells of the car after a big storm. The depth was no higher than the mats and I had it dried and professionally detailed and steam cleaned (I added a photo of it in the albu). I claimed it with my insurance and their estimator deemed it a loss because they wanted to replace the entire interior, which exceeded their estimated value of the car. The Title is clean and clear however.
All in all, I have put in about $5500 worth of service and parts to make this vehicle close to “new” as possible. As mentioned above, it needs absolutely nothing. Reason I’m selling is I now have 3 vehicles, plus a new Tundra TRD Pro on the way.
