The 2003 MK4 Jetta is known as the most reliable TDI ever built. This is basically a one owner car that I’ve owned now for 12+ years. I bought the car from the original owner with only 8k miles on it back in 2004 and joined TDI Club way back then. The car now sits at 272k miles. This has been the best car I’ve ever owned and will miss it when it’s gone. I fly each week for work so I’m only driving it to the airport these days. Plus my three kids have grown to the point that they don’t fit in the back seat anymore so it’s time to replace this excellent car with a larger sedan. Also, I’m just ready for a change after all these years and my Wife is not keen on me keeping this and buying another car.
The car has been garaged its whole life until the past year when I moved to a house with a smaller garage. It has never been involved in any accidents. Car has spent its life in NC and has no rust anywhere. Paint is in great shape but there are many nicks on the front from highway driving and a few scratches.
I am very particular about my vehicles and have always meticulously maintained this car. I have full maintenance records that I’ve kept up with for the life of the car. I’ve always used OEM parts when available or high quality upgraded aftermarket parts.
I’ve always run either Stanadyne or Opti-Lube XL in every tank of diesel to protect the Injection pump. I’ve only ever used Synthetic diesel specific oil (Rotella or Mobil TDT) that I’ve always changed myself. Brakes (pads and rotors) were replaced at 220k miles. All fluids have been flushed according to the maintenance schedule.
The car has a lot of performance upgrades. I don’t beat on the car, but enjoy the added performance. The car is quick, especially compared to stock. Here is a list of the performance and non-performance upgrades:
• Garrett VNT 17/22 Hybrid turbo.
• IDParts upper/lower intercooler 2.5” pipes.
• IDParts Old man intake.
• EuroJet SMIC.
• Bosio PowerPlus 502 Injectors
• Custom Stage 4 TD Tuning MAF-less tune.
• DC Stage II clutch
• Full 2.5” turbo back cat less exhaust.
• PD150 Lift Pump
• PD150 Intake
• PD150 Race Pipe
• McNally Boost/EGT combo gauge mounted center of the top of the steering wheel column.
• Frostheater (used anytime the temp dropped below 60 degrees for smooth starts and less engine wear)
• 18” Enkei ZR1 Hyper Black wheels.
• Wolfsburg Sport Seats.
• Full upgraded 2004 center console with cup holders and armrest
• Leather Audi shift knob and boot
• Dieselgeek short shift kit.
• Dieselgeek Panzer skid plate
• Dieselgeek Oil Bypass filter system (installed since 100k miles)
• Tinted windows.
• Tow hitch installed and used only for a mountain bike rack. (Have never towed anything with the car)
• Honey Comb grill inserts
• Upgraded OEM mats and trunk cover.
In January of this year I did a full suspension refresh. The car drives like new now. The following was replaced:
• Brand new Raxles axles for driver and passenger side - $700
• New Eibach springs (1” lower than stock) - $250
• New Bilstein Touring Shocks/Struts - $270
• Complete suspension refresh kit - $250.
• Audi TT Lower control arm bushings.
• Tie rod ends.
• Front control arm bushings.
• Strut bearings/ mounts.
• Shock mounts.
• Sway bar bushings.
Replaced in the last two months:
• New OEM A/C compressor and dryer. A/C blows VERY cold now. - $1500
• New OEM Bosch alternator. - $300
• New driver side OEM radiator fan. - $200
• Brake fluid flush
• Air and Fuel filter
The not so good:
• The cloth on the door cards is saggy. I started a project to fix this. I removed the cloth from the passenger front door and sprayed it with black hammered paint. This is a good long term solution, but I’ve not done any of the other doors.
• The driver door window tint is scratched.
• Few rock chips in the windshield. No cracks.
The price is $4600 OBO. Make an offer if you are interested. Please call or text me at 919-816-6971 if you would like to discuss the car. Car is located in Mooresville, North Carolina. (30 mins north of Charlotte NC). I travel during the week so the car is only available to see on the weekends.
