Sorry to be "that" guy, but I'm loosing my mind.

I have read the "no start" thread, I will give a little history then give what I've attempted.

I bought the Golf for my nephew's grad present. Going through it more so since 2d are rare in my parts so I just grabbed it. It did run though and I did drive it home. It had a busted hard heater line bent at a 90, EGR delete so no emissions, and A/C didn't work. I was told it had an air leak in the fuel system at the fuel filter; which looked stock/oe from car new.

The guy said he did the TB recently, I've done plenty of AHU/ALH TB's so wasn't unfamilar. The components were new, dated good, and only issue was VCDS had it way retarded which I corrected. So, fixed timing, and she started right up!

I then proceeded switching the engine mounts, replacing all the broken A/C components, replacing the broken hard heater line that wraps around the engine, new alt, and a bunch of other ****. I also had to reinstall the emissions that I got from another TDI (99 Beetle).

Finally got it all buttoned up, and she cranks, sounds like she wants to start; as I get more than a crank like a sputter. Won't actually start though.

The battery isn't the best, but it does hold a charge at 12.8v. I've also had it on the charger whlie I'm in VCDS or kill it cranking attempting.

What have I done to investigate.

** Verified Fuel Filter & IP are bled** I filled the new fuel filter with diesel. Pulled fuel from the filter housing and then again from the IP return with a mityvac. Cracked all four injectors and cranked till no bubbles.

** Intake & EGR/Emissions appear proper/functiong/clean.

** The Anti_Shudder Valve installed with the EGR appears to function properly.

**VCDS*** I first fired it up and cleared any DTCs from all the previous running and work now. I then attempted to start and go the following. All of which seem fine and nothing to prevent a no start; I know about the passenger seat. Nothing stood out with VCDS.

Thanks for any suggestions. Getting a testlight and checking the fuel solenoid; be odd it just went out though during this work.

*** VCDS LOG****

Log the abs sensor and passenger seat is all known stuff at moment (seat is out)

Do you hear the click at the IP when the ignition switch is powered up?
Does the glow plug light work on ignition switch power up?

I would switch battery to a healthy one that you know is strong to give you a good crank. Also check Fuse #90?? (black square one, the new ones are grey colored) the one under the steering column that usually goes and doesn't allow for a start. I know i'm not naming the correct fuse but hoping others can chime in.

Perhaps you've done this, but you can confirm cranking speed with VCDS, which, if present, confirms the ECU is running and sees the crank sensor.

I saw this too late, but this was on the right track!

I noticed no RPMs on the tacho, so looked at the crank sensor connector next to the IP connector. Sure enough, it wasn't seated enough to where it clicked.

I clicked it in and now the car starts.

Thanks all!
