A cared for ALH with a 6-spd swap, $5k seems fair to me. When was the TB last done?

do you know the revs at 80 on the interstate?
My son said it runs around 2100 rpm on the freeway at around 75-80...

I know the swap made a huge difference not only in the rpm while cruising, but also MPG! He went from upper 30s to upper 40s and even into the mid 50s on interstate road trips!!! He averages around 42 MPG now with mixed city/highway driving.

Let me know if you have other questions

Bump...

Anyone else have any other questions or suggestions for pricing my son's Jetta TDI 6-speed?

He is scheduled to pick up his new diesel mid October so we will probably be posting the true "FOR SALE" listing somewhere around October 20th to the 30th...

Feel free to ask for any additional details you might need and I'll do my best to answer.

Also on the timing belt, I can't remember for sure when we replaced it. I am pretty darn sure we did, but I suppose you might want to budget for a new timing belt kit if you are interested in the car. It does have 260,000+ miles on it so certainly you'd want to replace it again by the 300,000 mark no matter what. I feel like we replaced it between 200,000 and 220,000 but can't find receipts to back it up so I can't "prove" that we did.

Take care and have a great night everyone!!!

Unfortunately a car that getting sold in NY with a Tennessee title and plates will be treated as an out of state car when bought in NY. ALSO no NY emissions or safety inspections.... Tennessee actually, so no inspections if I recall right....
Also as soon as a 3rd person acts like they are selling it or pumping it on you behalf automatically sets of warnings in the heads of most car buyers.
Plausible deniability for any known issues, possible title issues, registration issues in a new state plus inspections issues.
Send the car to Tennessee...sell it there.
Just my 2¢ of hard advise that most people haven't said out loud.
You seem to want to get a premium selling it...sure NY is more $$ but with the flags you are looking at a discount or bargain hunter with the red flags IMHO.

The car is in both names mine and my son's are both on the title, that way we could keep it registered here and insured under our policy.

We (my son and I) are selling our car, there is no third party involved.

The car has a clean TN title and should be no problem registering it in whatever state you live in or choose to register it in.

I do not feel like we are not asking a premium for the car. Others suggested around $5,000 so that's where we priced it. I have not seen any other O2M 6-speed ALH Jetta TDIs listed to compare to and it seems a fair price to me with the few ALHs I've seen ranging from $3,000 with an automatic to $5,000+ with a 5-speed and $10,000+ for 5-speed wagons it seems like a more than fair price to me.

We paid for a NEW OLD STOCK O2M 6-speed transmission imported from Franz in Belgium along with a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and hydraulic master and slave cylinders, and the rest of the components in good used condition. Then we installed it in December of 2022 so less than 2 years on a new transmission with a running ALH and all the other upgrades seems like $5,000 is a bargain price to me...

Here's a short list:
Midwest Creations HID Projector conversion with glass lenses
EBC dimpled and slotted rotors front and rear
Koni Orange shocks and struts
New Michelin tires
Powder coated wheels
Kenwood Excellon head unit
New seat covers

If you aren't interested that's fine, but don't try to dissuade others that might be.

Thanks for looking and have a great afternoon!!!

No issues transferring to NY - I've registered several out of state cars (CT, PA, NJ and NV - PA was the worst with everything needing to be notarized). There is plug in emissions testing here in NY (I live in the same town), but they are easy to pass if there's no CEL.

I'm surprised I've never seen this car running around!!!

Thanks

Wild that you both live in Newburgh.

Hopefully the little TDI will sell soon.

Let me know if anyone has any questions about the car.

Have a great day!!!

Make it a NY road trip to pick it up... or fly up and pick it up. That's what he did to get his 2015 diesel wagon, he flew out to Illinois and drove it the 15 hours back home!

If you are serious I could see if he could drive it down to help us move then fly back home... but we would have to factor that into the price.

Feel free to message me if you want

Take care and have a great night!
